Only just watched True Grit.

 

It was a cracking movie, but not even half as good as the original, and that's being generous.

maybe I'm biased as the original is genuinely one of my all time favourite movies, but it's a favourite for a reason; it's absolutely fucking brilliant, especially the ending, which the remake just does not live up to at all.

 

If I hadn't seen the original then I'd deffo be scoring this film a solid 8 Texas Rangers out 10 Rooster Cogburns, but because I have - and it's infinitely better imo - I can only give it 6 one-eyed killers.

 

Some remakes just don't need to be made. And as good a stand-alone movie this would have been, this was one of them.

Just watched the the John Wayne version tonight for the first time.Excellent film,i personlay wouldnt say there is much different between the two,i cant remember what i score i gave the remake i think it would have been 9 and would give this one the same
