Disclaimer: I got permission from Dave to post this before posting. The Problem As people on here know, adding posters to your ignore list doesn't really remove their content from your view. It just collapses their post leaving you to see all the posts quoting them. That makes the ignore function kinda useless. I find that some of the spam impacts the usability of the site a bit, especially in threads like the Israel one where it's just almost a page of collapsed posts at a time. It means I'm just avoiding certain threads like a plague. I know some others have this issue, if you're not one of them then good for you, this thread isn't for you. If i…

Thought I'd start a thread on this as a few of you have asked about it. Basically, anyone who has access to this forum should not be seeing any ads. Subscribers are ad free, so if you are seeing them it's because of the theme you have selected. Go to the bottom of the page and select TLW Subscribers theme. Then you shouldn't be getting any ads showing. Any problems, either post in here or send me a PM.

I’ll try to reign myself in and keep this to reasonable length. I’m not promising anything though, as Darwin is kind of an obsession with me. You all know that he’s my boy. I love him and I’ll defend him to the hilt against his critics. I’m convinced he’s going to be great and that’s a hill I’ll die fighting on. If I’d been doing this at the end of March he’d be getting at least 8.5 and I’d have been fighting the urge to go even higher. But the last couple of months of the season were something of a catastrophe for him. He wasn’t alone of course, others struggled too as most of the team fell off a cliff at the same time. Most of those players bounced back to some degree i…

Locked the other thread as it's served it's purpose. Any problems you come across, or suggestions you want to make can go in here. I know some will immediately come steaming in about tags. I haven't forgotten about it, but I've disabled them for the time being until I can figure out how to have them only show up in the actual threads rather than on the forum index page, as I don't like how that looks. Makes everything seem too cluttered.

Hi all. I’ve signed up for the members club for the ticket scheme for me and my lad. He’s 4 going on 5 now and loves Mo and Stevie (due to me brainwashing him by showing him his videos on YouTube repeatedly!) When I signed up I’d missed the ballot and the next one is November or December I think. This is a shameless, cap in hand beg to anyone who might be able to get hold of, or not able to attend any of the upcoming fair weather games. I’ve sang YNWA and PST to him at bedtime since he was a baby and he asks for them and joins in now, so it’d be unreal to get him there to experience it. I will almost certainly get tickets for games that I can’t att…

There's a lot to like about this kid but I don’t know what he is. I thought I knew when we signed him, but then he proved me wrong so I changed my view. Then he proved me wrong again, and it turns out he is what I initially thought. So full disclosure, I didn’t really want to sign him. You may remember that from the diary this time last diary last year. We were linked with him all summer so I had plenty to say about it, and for most of that summer I was not in favour of signing him. Not because I didn’t think he was any good - I had no idea if he was or not - but because he clearly seemed like a project. My view was that he was raw potential that…

I could have gone with a really high rating here but to do that I would have had to ignore the beginning and the end of the season. Maybe there’s a case for doing that as the early months were him adapting and the closing weeks he looked knackered as he’d been overplayed due to injuries to other midfielders. For that spell in the middle of the season he was phenomenal. I love him. I love his serious little face. I love how he wears a gum shield on the pitch. I love how he plays football. He’s a true underdog and we all love an underdog don’t we? His performances in that spell when it was really looking like the quadruple might be a possibility were genuinely …

An up and down season for the Colombian. He started well, then his Dad got kidnapped and understandably his form became somewhat erratic, and by the end of the season he was carrying the attack almost single handedly at times as others lost their form. Diaz is a fighter and I love him for that. Look at how he played against Man City at Anfield. He was relentless and just ran Kyle Walker into the ground. People don't usually even try to run at Walker, but Diaz went at him every chance he got and tied him in knots. Every time he got the ball he drove at them and his performance was brilliant that day. Yet he did miss a glorious chance to win the game when he co…

Definitely the pick of last summer’s signings, which probably does not come as a surprise to anybody. He was the one who had experience of the Premier League and he’s also a World Cup winner. Imagine how good a season he could have had if he’d been played in his proper position more than he was. Klopp did not sign him to play in the holding role but it became a necessary solution when we missed out on Moises Caicedo. Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago were both injured and Endo was not ready to immediately step in. So Macca filled in and did very well all things considered. He isn’t a natural and defensively he found it difficult. It felt like he was booked virtually…

Another ultimately frustrating season for Curtis who can’t seem to catch a break. He ended last season superbly and just needed games to build on that, but he never got a proper extended run through no fault of his own. I think the most league starts he had in a row was five. We looked a much more controlled, settled side with him in it sand he was really starting to nail down a spot as one of the three first choice midfielders. In that spell when we looked at our best we had Endo holding, Macca pulling the strings and Curtis leading the press and knitting everything together. The only other midfielder seriously pushing that trio for a spot was Elliott. Jones…

A strange season for the Dutchman which began with him being played out of position in midfield. That didn’t go particularly well but that’s not really his fault. He wasn't terrible and the team as a whole wasn't exactly fluid in the opening few weeks. Klopp admitted later that was a mistake and that Cody probably suffered as a result of it. I suspect Klopp just wanted to find a way to get him on the pitch, and couldn't find room for him in the front three so came up with the midfield solution, which probably seemed like a much better idea on the tactics board than it was on the pitch. Gakpo spent much of the season as the “midweek centre forward” …

Difficult one to judge this because I can barely remember him playing as my memory isn’t what it was these days. I don’t remember too much in terms of specific games (the heartbreak at Spurs is the obvious exception to that) but I recall that he was playing well and was holding down a place on merit until his season was ended prematurely when he blew his knee out in December against Fulham at Anfield. That was to be the last time he played for the club, which is a huge shame as he’s one of the most popular players we’ve had during the Klopp era. Everybody loves Joel Matip. What a guy. The plan going into the season will have been to r…

Not the easiest one to grade this. He didn’t make many mistakes yet it never felt like he was having an amazing season either. Maybe that’s because we defended better and he wasn’t needed as much, certainly earlier in the season anyway. One incredible save at Newcastle stands out, but other than that it was just standard Alisson, making the difficult look easy and generally just being understatedly great. Usually his season grade is a 10/10 or, at the very worst, a 9. Not this time. Why? Two reasons. Firstly, he missed months with a hamstring injury picked up in training. The best ability is availability, and it feels like Alisson misses time every season. No…

Long shot shout for an adult and a child ticket for this one. Cap in hand, would love you forever. Lad’s first trip to Anfield will happen this season, just about when, not if. I’ll be in the next autumn ballot, so will have tickets to return after that I hope.

I’m doing this rating based on the numbers he’s produced rather than how I’ve felt watching him. I don’t think he had a good season and there were times when he was inexplicably bad, whether it’s horribly missing chances, continually just running into full backs or breaking down our attacks with sloppy passes. He’s a world class player who does a lot of things that you wouldn’t normally see from world class players. He also still scores and creates more than anyone else in the team though so it feels churlish to criticise him. I think it’s the way he misses the chances that makes it seem worse. Also the timing of his poor form killed us, but he wasn't alone i…

Another difficult one to judge because it felt like he was hardly ever available. When he played he was brilliant and one can only imagine how many goals he’d score if he could ever stay fit for a full season. He’s never going to hold down a regular starting spot because he’s never fit long enough to do it. If Jota had the durability of the other forwards he’d probably outscore all of them, including Salah. But he doesn’t and never has. The best ability is availability and throughout his time here Diogo has lacked that. In fairness, the big injury he suffered this season could have happened to anybody and it’s just terrible luck. A Brentford defen…

Other than Van Dijk and possibly Mac Allister, nobody had a better season for us than Harvey. The numbers don’t really do justice to the impact he had. Four goals and a good number of assists is decent but nothing special, but there are things Elliott brought to the team that can’t be measured on spreadsheets. First and foremost, he’s a tempo setter. Much has been made of how effective he’s been when coming off the bench, but not too much is said about why that is. He brings a big spark of energy to games when they are flat. So many times the tempo had been too slow and we were struggling, but then on comes Harvey and immediately everything speeds up because …

It’s hard not to be disappointed by Szoboszlai’s season as a whole because of the impressive way he started it. He looked like a superstar in those opening couple of months but then it just fizzled out into nothing. If it had gone the other way around I expect this rating would be much higher, so maybe I’m being too influenced by recency bias? I just feel like he massively underachieved though. He offered virtually nothing after the turn of the year and I don’t really buy the excuse that it was due to tiredness or the hamstring injury he picked up that kept him out a little while. Neither of those things helped, but it was more than that. He went from looking…

After the Villa game I had a debate with some of the older members of the club. I'm doing things for the LFCSC website and wanted to gauge opinion from them on who was the greatest player to play for Liverpool. They all without a minutes hesitation said Liddell. And I mean they all said it. He must have been some player. By the way he was LFCSC First President, and a regular visitor.

Our player of the season for me and it’s not particularly close. He wasn’t perfect, he had some games that weren’t great and some moments that had me thinking “the old Virgil wouldn’t have done that” but overall this was a brilliant bounce back season from him and he did a great job in his first campaign as skipper. I had some doubts about his suitability to lead the team but I’m happy to say I was wrong there. He led by example all year and never was that more evident than at Wembley when he skippered a team full of kids to victory against Chelsea. He was not going to accept anything other than victory that day and he actually won the game for us twice. The …
