Possibly, there is a more than fair chance you are right, but Madrid don't necessarily need Arsenal to hurry up because they know he will be loaned to us. Madrid don't really give a fuck who he goes to so long as it is on loan.

Maybe it's because it's less a case of Arsenal wanting him than of making sure we don't get him. Wenger's case is for CL football every year, regardless of lack of trophies. He's in direct competition with us for the last CL spot so anything he can do to prevent us from getting a useful player makes sense, especially if it's just a loan. Maybe Sahin wants guarantees of first team football - something less likely at Arsenal than with us - and Wenger is reluctant to commit. Occam's razor.
