Martin Demichelis just got loaned out to Malaga (they can buy him for 3M€ after the season) but he's been kind of a off for the last 2 seasons anyway.

nothing to do with us but I see Pellegrini is making some more what I would expect to be very good signings for Malaga, he is a top manager imo and still cant believe we didnt get him in the summer

Malaga snap up former Arsenal star Julio Baptista in £1.7m deal from Roma - Goal.com

Malaga have signed Brazilian attacker Julio Baptista from Roma, a board member of the La Liga club has confirmed.

Jose Carlos Perez, who is also a close aide of club owner Sheikh Al-Thani, revealed that an agreement has been reached among all parties.

The 29-year-old has struggled to feature for the Lupi under Claudio Ranieri this season and had been linked with a move to Malaga for some time.

"He has signed for two-and-a-half years and the transfer is €2 million [£1.7m] with Roma," he said, according to Sky Sports.

Malaga will be Baptista's third Liga club after his time at Sevilla and Real Madrid.

Perez also added that Atletico Madrid duo Ignacio Camacho and Sergio Asenjo will also be taken on board.

"Camacho will remain for the season and four more. There may be an option to re-purchase."

"In principle, there is also an agreement with Asenjo."

Is it true that Ben Arfa can be bought by Newcastle for £5m. How did his value drop so much before this season? I thought he was one of the young promising European players. Poulson or Arfa? Even with him injured now I'd still take him over Poulson.

Didnt he go on strike and state that he didnt want to play for Marseille. That might be the reason for the £5million

Liverpool are ready to beat Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid to the £15m signing of France star Yann M'Vila.

Director of football Damien Comolli has identified the Rennes defensive midfielder as a central player in the rebuilding of the Reds.

And the Anfield club's American owners are prepared to spend now in a bid to help Roy Hodgson's struggling side.

M'Vila, 20, just missed out on World Cup selection but has played all five games under new coach Laurent Blanc, including the 2-1 victory over England at Wembley.

Real Madrid have also contacted Rennes about the player who is under contract until 2014.

Last month M'Vila insisted he would still be at Rennes next year but added: "I could leave at any moment. I feel I am ready for anything."

M'Vila's Rennes team-mate Sylvain Marveauz, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was at Anfield on Wednesday night to watch the defeat to Wolves.

Liverpool are leading the race for Werder Bremen’s World Cup star Per Mertesacker.

Mertesacker, the 26 year-old centre-back, is now on the Kop radar after director of football Damien Comolli made a personal check on him before Christmas. Bremen are prepared to sell the 26-year-old following their exit from the Champions League – but have told any interested clubs that the bidding will start at £10million.

Comolli watched Mertesacker in action as Werder suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Kaiserslautern on December 18 in their final Bundesliga game before the German winter break.

He recommended Liverpool should make a move for the Germany international.

But Liverpool are also keen to balance their books by shipping out a central defender to make way for the highly-rated German. They will look to cash in on Daniel Agger before they make a move for Mertesacker.

Agger is being touted around Europe after being told he can leave Anfield following his fall from grace under manager Roy Hodgson.

Mertesacker had an outstanding World Cup as Germany knocked out England before losing to eventual champions Spain in the semi-finals.

And he fits the player profile Comolli gave new Liverpool owners New England Sports Ventures when they decided to appoint him following their takeover in October.

At 26, Mertesacker is yet to enjoy the peak years of his career and would maintain his market value. He’s been with Bremen since moving from hometown club Hannover 96 in a £3million deal in 2006. Arsenal, who have also been scouring Europe for a centre-back and have checked out Mertesacker, are also once again monitoring the availability of Bolton centre-back Gary Cahill.

Bolton refused to listen to Arsenal’s overtures for the England star last summer, but if there’s any softening in Bolton’s positioning then the Gunners will pounce.
