Am I the only one who thinks that is good management?

Moyes wouldn't have been able to get away with it as he's a spineless weasel, but I reckon van Gaal is doing there what Rodgers did to Sterling with the "say 'steady' to me one more time and you'll be on the next flight home" remark.

It would be one thing if he were talking like that to his senior pros, but with all the hype around Shaw at such a young age I wouldn't be at all surprised if it started to go to his head and he stopped putting in the effort required in training.  The quickest way to fix that with a young player is to publicly take him down a notch or two.  If Shaw is what they think he is he'll respond by taking his medicine and redoubling his efforts.  If he's to be the left back version of Joe Cole then he'll grit his teeth, work a bit harder while van Gaal is watching and start to build up resentment.

I think the odds are good on the former, though I'm obviously hoping for the latter.

Van Gaal has a well worn template for managing and the first 6 months are spent pissing off everybody until things are done his way and those who dont like it are shown the door. Unfortunately for the rest of us,after that he usually gets excellent results.

Thing is with United recently is that they seem to only make one marquee signing and the rest are average at best. I hope this continues.

Gentlemen, terrible news. United have just ordered 30 iPads the size of Thomas the Tank Engine's face and a whiteboard which Felix Baumgartner could have seen from the highest point of his descent.

Time to turn in our badge and gun, there's a new Sheriff in town.

No I agree with you.  Slur at his peak would have had this kid under the cosh from the word go. I had a boss many years back who was an absolute cunt . Nothing got past him and if he thought anyone was taking the piss he was down on them like a ton of shite. That said if you performed he was fair . Everyone hated him but when he retired he confided in me and said "you don't have to be popular to be a good manager" and to fair with the group of people he managed it worked . You knew exactly where you stood

In the case of Utd they were so used to be ruled by a cunt a wimp like Moyes was never going to cut it. Now they have a new Dutch cunt at the helm I fear they will do much better.

I'm gonna put this in here as the title suits.

Was just watching SSN there (Kate Abdo is a minx!), and up the side came he odds for the league this season.

We're 5th favourites @ 10/1, which I thought was harsh enough.

I'll give ye one guess as to who are installed as 3rd favourites at a miserly 5/1.

Fucking ridiculous. Van Gaal must be Jesus Christ, Muhammad, Buddha, Nelson Mandela and Oprah all rolled into one.

We've just lost a striker who scored 30 goals for us last season. 10/1 is respectable.

The whole club is built on a myriad of myths.

"The biggest club in the world"- based on what evidence?

 Most successful - No

 Richest - No

Best supported based on attendance - No

 Biggest stadium -No

Most hyped and self promoted - yes.

I think it's stupid that we're playing them tomorrow. There is nothing we can get from this game that will make us feel better than we did from last season, it's never a fucking friendly against them, and if they get a victory over us it will give them a massive boost to take into the season, and put us on a downer. Why we are involved in a competition with them is obviously to do with dirty wonga but it's bullshit. Us v Them is twice a season, more if we meet in the cups. That's it. Ali and Frazier didn't fucking spar, they fought. It's a recipe for injuries too. Having said all that, I will be tuned in and supporting the team but fuck it. It shouldn't happen.

We should just put a team of bruisers out there and kick the living fuck out of them, save the first team players for the start of the season. Does anyone really think these snide's aren't going to be flying in two footed left and right? Valencia had Sterling by the throat trying to strangle him in a world cup warm up game.

They can't be trusted, you have to fight fire with a flamethrower, send in the big boys. i want to see Valencia's lifeless body contorting from an old school Souness tackle.

That Souness gif is great. Did you see his mustache elbow the first guy before he impaled his final victim? And they say the game was slower in those days? ppfffft Look at the speed of the man ! Sponsored by Clydesdale bank, 'we'll kick you in the bollocks'.
