LFC approach Wigan for martinez

I'm sure that you are aware as I am, Coop, that a source we both know is supposedly close to Werner was busy telling people that Martinez wasn't even up for consideration yesterday. Obviously, things change. Maybe Klopp, AVB and Capello put the phone down on them.

Martinez will just be on a list of candidates that FSG will look at over the coming days/weeks.

They will look at rookies such as Martinez and possibly Rodgers and no doubt experienced managers like Capello.

It is up to them to decide which manager they feel will be best suited to taking the club forward.

They have to explore all the alternatives to the manager's role as it's important they get it right so if it means interviewing 50 managers then so be it.

Do they appoint managers of teams that just avoid relegation for the last 3 seasons though?

Just wondering.

"The first attempts by Benítez at senior management away from the Real Madrid fold were less than successful. He was appointed manager of Real Valladolid for the 1995–96 season but was sacked after only two wins in 23 games with the club bottom of the Primera División. During the 1996–97 season, Benítez took charge at Osasuna in the Segunda División but after only 9 games and one win he was sacked. He did, however, meet the fitness instructor Pako Ayestarán at the club, and went on to form a partnership with him at several clubs for the next decade. In 1997, he joined another Segunda División side, Extremadura and this time led them to promotion, finishing second in the table behind Deportivo Alavés, after winning 23 out of 42 games. Extremadura only survived one season in Primera División, however, and were relegated in 1999 after finishing seventeenth and losing a play-off to Villarreal."

Roy made a massive mistake in taking the job when he wasn't wanted, Martinez should learn from that.

I doubt Hodgson looks at it that way, I'm sure he made quite a bit of money by coming here. His problem imo wasn't that he wasn't wanted, it was that he wasn't qualified for the job. He had done nothing during his entire career to suggest he had what it takes to manage Liverpool.

That's why appointing Hodgson was worse than going for Martinez; at least the latter is young and might have what it takes.

Feel sick. And it pisses me off that Ayre is a lying bastard. He is on record yesterday saying that no candidates has been considered before Kenny got the bootout of respect for Kenny. Thats obviously not true since the Martinez rumour has been going around for some time.

Actually coop is right about this and how long has he got on his Wigan contract as well.

It just seems scary that he appears to be the first one we are looking at.

All though with all the crap in the papers about how it is him dosent make me feel confident that it isnt.

The problem is that FSG don't know what they are doing.

Martinez with Rafa as DOF is a proposition. On his own it is high risk.

There is no "unity candidate".

It isnt as scary as the thought of Rafa with his hands on the transfer kitty though.

Did the Martinez info not originate from Whelan.

Didn't take him long to get on SSN.

Yes, but the information that Benitez and Martinez were 'not in the frame' originated from Werner's text buddy. So why are they releasing information through an ITK that they aren't considering Martinez, and on the other hand offering him an interview on the quiet?

What information and which text buddy? I never knew there was an ITK? Quite silly if there is.

They wouldn't interview him if they weren't interested in giving him the job. He shouldn't even be in the frame, it's totally unacceptable. He has a worse record at Wigan than Steve Bruce and Paul Jewell. He has no top level experience. He hasn't even shown anything special that might make you think he is capable of the step up.
