You'd think heading into like the 6th month of this it would get clearer that there's a lag between deaths and cases.

There certainly is. You'd also think that it would get clearer that there is a link between testing and number of official cases.

Anyway, your estimate that the wrong mindset of the Southerners will make them the biggest victims of the epidemic still needs to be proven by actual events.

The Southern United States was always going to be one of the worst victims of this thing. A lot of people in the south just have the totally wrong mindset to deal with this sort of threat.

I can read, slowly but I get there eventually, and no, I didn't. And you wouldn't.

Can you write a more convoluted sentence? The decipherer who figured out the Egyptian hieroglyphs wouldn't figure out what you said here.

I'm just glad we're still following the science.

Most of the advice given to the UK government by its emergency scientific advisory group (SAGE) is ignored or politicised, a member has alleged.

Speaking to the New York Times, Dr Susan Michie, a professor of health psychology at University College London, said that a SAGE committee on which she serves produced a study detailing the risks of reducing the social distancing rule from two metres to one.

However, little information about the risks of cutting the distance was given by prime minister Boris Johnson when he announced the upcoming reduction, the article says.

“The overwhelming majority of our advice is ignored,” Michie said, “but the pieces are picked up and used for political purposes.”

I mean, it is. You're telling me redneck-ass North Florida isn't the south?

Part of Florida is in the South, but most of it is not.

Jacksonville, kinda. Pensacola, sure. But culturally, "the South" stops around Ocala or so, probably around 15% of the population of Florida.

Don’t you live in Tampa in North Florida, Howie?

Florida Gold Coast - The tri-county region sometimes referred to as "South Florida", consisting of Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties on the Atlantic coast. This is the most southeast region. Usually when people say South Florida they are referring to the Gold Coast (especially in the media).

Tampa's not North Florida. By North Florida I meant Tallahassee, Pensacola, Jacksonville, places like that. Honestly one of the worst places on earth bar none.

Just had a look at Pensacola on Google Maps and I reckon the people of Aleppo might feel a little put out by this statement.

Wiki travel says it is. Just admit it, you were embarrassed by calling Howie a red neck after he’d sent you a supply of Twinkie's while you were self isolating. You ungrateful bastard....

With all due respect to wiki travel, all you have to do is look at a map to see that Tampa is not North Florida. It's also very different to the north, which as I said is red neck central. Tampa is nice, been there plenty, frequented the adult establishments, seen a Rays game, a Bucs game. Worlds apart from what you see in the Panhandle, which is pretty much all meth labs.
