He might have played a million games, but he doesn't need rest. Ronaldo and Messi played every game in their primes and mostly always performed. He'd never admit he needs rest anyway and his status is too high for him to sit out games anyway. There's no point.

He's just been immensely inefficient for months. Shooting from ridiculous areas to try to regain some personal form by himself and persisting to dribble straight into people. It's not really hard to see the problem, he's an extremely visible player. He just needs to stop playing like mister superstar, honestly.

What's the solution? Well, at least in the short term, as I said, it's moving him to the left, innit??? I mean, apart from dropping him, you're not going to make him less predictable on the right by patting him on the back or shouting at him, are you? When the ball comes to Mane or Diaz on the left, defenders know they might hit it, dribble with it, cut inside, cross it - pretty much anything. When the ball comes to Salah on the right...well, I don't need to say it all again. If you've got a predictable player, you either drop them or find a way to make them less predictable. In Salah's case, that's shifting him to new areas.

Fuck moving Diaz out of position for Mo.

All Mo will attempt to do is dribble it down the touchline in a vain hope to dribble past the other defenders to score with the occasional over hit pass to a player on the opposition team thrown in.  Rinse and repeat.

Well then the logic says you're just left with dropping him. Unless you've a third option? (Diaz actually did more of value on the right than Mo did in that game.)

He may not have scored many but he’s offered plenty of assists, lest we forget. He needs to mix his game up a bit, but to suggest he’s offered nothing for months..,

Agreed, he has scored a barrel load and has assists as well. How does he mix it up? There is talk of him becoming a winger/playmaker but he could have  put us ahead early on with a simple square ball. An in-form Mo makes that pass.

He is still the best right sided forward we have by far.

Tell him to get the ball of his foot quicker. Watch Diaz today, maybe he misplaced 6 passes.

Probably his worst game for us today. Stats wise he was awful. He got dispossessed 6 times (3 times as many as the second place Diaz and Jota), had 63% pass completion rate (worst on the pitch for us), 0 quantifiable defensive contribution, and 3 shots on goal not one on target.

Third option? He plays we don't have anyone else for the right side.  He assists anyway when he passes.  If he cut out half the rugby efforts that would be a start.

Yet again: Mane signed for us as a right-sided player. He was our player of the year on the right side. He can play on the right. Many people have seen him do so. Hopefully that clarifies the matter. We DO have players who can play on the right.

Mane couldn't keep his position on the left and he's looked shit on the right.  His first season was an age ago.  He is not as good as Mo on the right period that certainly clarifies the matter.

I think Mo’s season is cooked. He’s had a great year but he’s nothing left. There’s no point comparing him to Messi or Ronaldo; he’s not quite the same level as the two best players of all time at their best, and he’s not playing in La Liga where typically half of the teams are not quite Premier League level.

He thinks he's Ronaldo or Messi, is the issue.

Maybe he does but I don’t think that’s relevant.

Of course it's relevant. He has the status of someone who is undroppable, like them, and chases numbers, like them. It's an important part of who he is and how he plays. He thinks he's the best.
