I see that the Mancs have just secured a world record $100m a year kit deal. For context, that's almost twice as much as the second biggest deal (Real Madrid).

Huh wt? Nike said they dont see value in that deal and pulled it off. Warrior and Adidas are in the running. Mancs are demanding $100m a year but havent got it yet.

They haven't, there's rumours Adidas are interested and $100m is a fee that's been reported, but that just sounds like a ploy to get more out of Nike, who rightfully fucked off.

They must have really been demanding a ridiculous fee given how Nike responded.  Not only did they not bother to stay involved in the bidding against Adidas/whomever, they issued a public statement about how "the deal with Manchester United represents poor value for our shareholders."  Never seen that before.

It was the corporate version of telling them "Fuck off. No, further. Keep going, then go some more, and then fuck off from there too."

Arsenal ended their deal with Nike this year and have gone with Puma. Juventus will end their Nike deal at the end of the season and then link up with Adidas. Apart from Barcelona as the biggest sellers for Nike, they've still got Inter, Man City, Roma and PSG, none of whom sell at anywhere near the level of the big hitters. Have Nike reached a saturation point of sorts? Is it now costing them too much for very little sales growth? It happened around 20 years ago when teams didn't extend their Adidas sponsorships and instead went with the likes of Puma and Nike, or in Liverpool's case, Reebok.

Tariq Panja is reporting that the Adidas deal with United is done but won't be announced till after Nike deal runs out. If he says it's done then it's done, in terms of football business he seems to have better contacts than most.

Wonder after losing United, Nike will make a bid for LFC in a few years. Would be interesting to see what they would bid two years down the line.

Nike like to control merchandising rights for the clubs they sponsor, particularly the big clubs. They would probably need to offer double what Warrior are currently paying us, and remember Warrior do not control the club's merchandising rights.

I just want to go back to adidas. Reebok kits were diarrhea, warrior kits are diarrhea.

Fucking shit running down your leg, they are. Nike are boring bollocks and Puma are a poor man's nike - despite having Adidas connections.

Macron? Shittiest shit. Umbro? Dead.

Gimme 3 stripes.

The best 2014 World Cup kits are Nike ones. Hummel made boss kits in the 80's but haven't done since. Reebok had their moments with us. Their 1996-98 and 1998-00 home kits were very good, bar the baggy 90's fit. We had only one decent Adidas home kit (2008-10) second time around, the rest were a bit shitty.
