Why not?

Still trying to work it out, and it might no longer be the case as things have moved on squad wise, but I think he hits the same issue Harvey Elliott had a few years back in the CL squad where he needs to be registered in the A squad (the main squad of 25) as he's not eligible for the larger B squad, depends how many other U21 players we need to register.

He might be ok and we probably have space in the A squad for him as one of the non home grown players.

Yeah i dont think Doak has been here long enough to be classed as a home grown player, so would need to be included in the 17 non homegrown players, which is unlikely given our squad size.

That's what I make it as.

Your 25 man squad can only have 17 non-HG players and 8 who qualify as home grown. Your B team can have as many players as you like as long as they're born on or after 1 January 2002 and since his 15th birthday has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period.

You must also have at least 2 goalkeepers in the squad of 25 and 3 goalkeepers across the A & B team.

Doak hasn't been here long enough and is Scottish, while a player like Gravenberch (who qualifies as an U21 player for PL purposes) would have to be registered as part of the 17 for the UEFA cup.

What a load of complicated shit. If we were City we could just do anything we wanted and make up our own rules.
