Wonder how much of it is mental. It's the first major injury he's had since he's been here discounting the Ramos shoulder. Out for a few weeks, and as soon as we thought he was back he aggravated it and misses a couple more weeks. He's never missed so many games in a season, and for a a player that barely even picks up common knocks or small strains, it's going to be difficult for him It's going to have a major impact on him, he's going to be playing it much safer, not going into full sprints, swerving 50/50 challenges etc. On top of that, he's potentially having the same doubts we are, maybe he's got it into his head that his body is at the beginning of it's sharp decline and he doesn't know how much longer his career at this level is going to last.

I think us playing differently than we did at Anfield is a bigger issue than what they do.

That's my main hope going forward. We might have got to watch some entertaining heavy metal football over the past few years, if the next guy comes in and takes a heavy metal attacking team and gives it a little bit more stability and discipline then it could be the thing we need to reach the top. The bar is much lower now than it was 4 years ago, if Arteta can turn Arsenal into title challengers then it give me some hope that our next gaffer can keep us knocking about around the top too. Really going be hard to get massively excited about our trophy prospects if we go behind and then win 2-1 yet again, even if it is the 3 points. Big win, take that momentum into the Atalanta game, smash them, then we get all misty eyed and giddy about how Liverpool gives us these big emotional moments, and then we transcend into a higher level as we cruise our way past every team til the end of the season.
