Negatives:

We play at 12:30 Saturday after the forst two international breaks.

We play Manchester City after the 3rd international break. However they'll be in a similar boat.

We play Spurs 3 days after the league cup game and they'll have a free week.

The derby is 12:30 on a Saturday and we struggle at that time. However, our record against them at Anfield is excellent.

Positives:

We play West Ham and Brighton on the Sunday after Europa games. They'll also have played Thursday night.

The 3 away Europa games are early so the players will be home at a reasonable hour on Thursday night.

We should not need to play (m)any first team players v Leicester at home in the league cup.

We play at home v Forest, Brentford and Fulham on Sunday after the Europa. They could have been more awkward. Hopefully we will have not need to use many 1st team players in the final two games.

Giving Adrian another contract was a complete waste of a non HG spot. Think we still had one spare but it could easily have made things difficult. I'm a bit surprised we didn't leave Alisson out of the squad for the group games as you'd doubt he would even travel let alone play.

I expect our Europa group stage team to look something like;

                    Kelleher,

Gomez, Matip Quansah, Tsimikas

            Bacjcetic,Thiago,Elliott

              Doak,Nunez,Jota

You can add Gravenberch & Endo to that squad as well, at least initially while everyone is settling in.

Wouldn’t surprise me if VVD or Konate are involved next week.

We’ve got a good squad. Maybe not enough this season to challenge for the League & CL, but we’re not in the CL this season, the above players are good enough to get us at least past the group.

I missed this last one.

Three short hops to Western Europe, all against teams that don't demand our strongest XI, followed by three home games, two of which are against teams who have also had a midweek match.  I don't think we could have asked for a much better draw.

Remember kids, don’t be a Dick.

Dutch manager & pundit Dick Advocaat made this statement at halftime when AZ Alkmaar were up 3-0 up against Bosnian club Zrinjski Mostar: "Its incomprehensible that such teams are allowed to play in European football.”

Zrinjski ended up winning 4-3. Magic of European football.
