Well that was shite. Hardly anything created and in the first half especially, because there was zero movement ahead of the defenders. Kane was doing a passable impression of an Easter Island statue. Sterling was doing a passable impression of a toddler being handed a ball 3 days after learning to walk. Jones was doing a passable impression of somebody who is 5 miles from the nearest shitter while touching cloth. Rose was doing a passable impression of a British tourist who has been led to a illicit vodka den by some crafty local scals.

 

The best part of the match by far was the Belgium counter attack that nearly resulted in a second goal for Meunier. Would have been a shout for goal of the tournament had he buried that one after a brilliant passing move by the Belgians.

 

Southgate has depended too much on set-piece prowess as the tournament has gone on, and his midfields have been overworked defensively and not creative enough in the attacking third. Kane and Sterling have increasingly been dropping deep in order to see the ball, and there hasn't been anyone getting into the box to compensate. His team have reached the last 4 more through luck of the draw than actually being one of the 4 best sides.

 

Unless either Mbappe or Griezmann get a hat-trick in the final, the dribbling gonk from Spurs will end up winning the Golden Boot.
