Trump found out that a painting depicting him was up for auction, so he asked Cohen to arrange for a bidder to buy it, making sure that the painting was sold for a greater amount than anything else at that auction. Trump then got Cohen to reimburse the bidder using funds from Trump's foundation, before having the painting displayed at one of his resorts.

 

In any other sphere, you could reasonably claim the above to be absolute bollocks as the level of narcissism and batshit craziness is off the charts, but with Trump, it sounds exactly like something he would do.

The problem is his tricks and schemes to appear greater than the sum of his parts has worked ultimately, as he’s managed to lie/blag his way the presidency.

 

Watched a few documentaries about him recently, the four part series on Netflix was full of tales of his own self promotion/fragile ego similar to this.
