*Shakes head* Everton again.

I see some of the blerts on GOT are shooting the messenger, a Simon Goodley, for reporting the stories about the corruption, infighting and negligence at Everton, rather than, you know, being concerned about said corruption, infighting and negligence.

To be fair, though, Goodley does have a pretty impressive proportion of Everton stories in his Guardian resume for a 'business' reporter. Good man.

I only partly caught it, but I think North west news tonight on the BBC said MSP have raised the 125m they were after to acquire 25% of Everton.

I just had a quick Google and the echo had this which says there were filings with the SEC on 20th June.

Klopp nicked it of William C Cuff, the legendary Everton manager who was the first manager to coin the phrase. Cuff delivered the league title in 1914-15 and famously said he would hand back the title to save just one life, football is important he said, the most important of the unimportant things. Even though that title was Cuff's first in 14 years in charge of the original club on Merseyside, it was said all across the land and in many trenches across Europe, that this unholy war was denying Cuff the shot at being among the greats of the game, the inaugural European Cup was due to be played the following year but postponed a further 41 years because of the war. Everton and Cuff were clear favourites to win that year's competition and reign over Europe like Madrid went on do to. Cuff's great side are known through out the world as the Moral Madrid.

The Cuff turn .

Did you know that the clock hands on Everton's cuckoo clock are actually based on Beadle?

“Youse will never know what it’s like to be on the brink…”.

Yeah, thank fuck.

The brink of what, though?

On the brink of winning every completion and trophy available right up to the last day and minutes of the season? Yeah, we know what that's like.

Not quite the euphoria of holding a live bemused dog trophy aloft, I'll give them that
