What is the bleakest film..

I wanted to see that purely because it's Paddy Considine's directorial debut, but even without the dog death it sounds tough going.

Can't be watching things with dogs dying tragically though, it always gets to me more than other things. I struggled to watch Hachi, and that's a pretty shit film.

I can sympathise on the dog thing. I wouldn't even be able to watch Hollywood nonsense like Marley And Me without getting misty eyed.

Same. Can't stand cruelty to animals. Theres one tiny part of American Psycho that I always skip past. Big wuss that I am.

Philadelphia. Especially at the end (hidden for spoilers, in case anybody doesn't know how it ends).

Never Let Me Go.

Very good shout. That film has probably altered my viewing habits for life as I somehow went to see it one Sunday evening at the quietest cinema in the world to "round off the weekend", boy did I regret it. And now I'll never watch anything but a proper overblown action or comedy film on a Sunday night such is the effect it's bleakness had on me.
