Best performance from a shit player/Worst performance by an ace player

Ok, similar to the other thread but has there ever been a performance from a poor player where you thought 'Jesus, maybe this useless sack of shit could turn out ace afterall' or a performance where a brilliant player looked like he'd swapped his legs with Tony Hibberts?

I've already mentioned my brilliant player/poor performance in the other thread (Sami v Chelsea).

for the other one i'm going Pellegrini in his first Derby match, he properly put in a Hansen-esque performance that day and I was raving about him.

Best performance by a shit player? Diouf tore Blackburn's full-backs to shreds when we played them at Ewood Park in a Carling/Worthington Cup tie. We scored 4, but could have had 10. I thought, if he could play to that level he might be worth persevering with. Needless to say, it was a flash in the pan.

Oops, Pellegrino I meant.

Tony Nunez's cameo in the 2005 Chelsea semi-final was fantastic as well, he basically just had instructions to charge for the corner everytime he got the ball, to be fair he did it extremely well.

Best by the worst? Josemi during the pre-season tour to the US. He was a monster, put in tackles that shook the stadium. After that just monstrous.

Worst by the best? Pick any of Gerrard's, "I really can't be arsed" performances from a couple of seasons ago. You can forgive someone for being shit, but not for that.

Gerrard's had a few awful performances where it looked like he couldn't be bothered at all.

2005 League Cup final was one.

I was fuming with him in the ground that day, Joe Cole did a disgraceful swan-dive to try and get Sami sent off, all the Chelsea players waded in and Gerrard just stood back not looking arsed at all.

He also looked like he didn't want to tackle Lampard all game.

More than made up for it since like!!

Plesiss(sp) debut at the Emirates was pretty good to be fair.

Yeah it was.

The best thing about Plesiss though was Silverlining extremely apt nickname for him and his insistence that Plessis parents had been killed in the ice age. Laughed for ages at that.

Julio Baptista, Fatty Viduka and "Special"-Face ArseHaven have all had unstoppable performances against us.

The twats.

All of them good players I'd argue.

Best by shit? Peter Ndlovu, hat-trick at Anfield for Coventry in 95 I think

The legendary Bruno Cheyrou debut in a pre-season friendly vs Lazio was supposed to herald the second coming of Zidane.

I already mentioned my good player/shit performance in the other thread - Torres vs the Mancs.

Was that the match when he scored the own goal and dave u had to be held back from assaulting badgeman?

Yeah by me. Wouldn't have said assaulted as such but maybe a slight disagreement over the captain. Hilarious looking back at it now. Dave's one of the most placid laid back fellas ever but let's just say emotions ran high that day.
