Blue Cards = Sin bins introduced to football.

Recommended Posts

An announcement is expected on Friday to announce the introduction of a blue card in football as part of a sin bin trial.

According to a report from the Telegraph today, the International Football Association Board (Ifab) have signed off on the use of a new card for the first time since yellow and red cards were brought in back in 1970.

A blue card will see a player leave the pitch for ten minutes before getting the chance to return to the game, and it will be reserved for certain offences.

The report states that blue cards will only be used for dissent or cynical fouls that stop a promising attack, but without necessarily being that dangerous.

A combination of two blue cards, or a blue and a yellow card in one game, could then lead to a red card later, just as two yellows already lead to a red under current rules.

Another shite idea that will be made even shitter by the clueless clowns responsible for implementing it and carrying it out.

Going to be fucking awful as the inconsistency of how they issue them will be fucking painful.

A typically clear announcement. Yellow and red cards as usual, but one or maybe two blue ones for 'certain offences'. What, pray, are those 'certain offences'? Fouls, perchance? Anything else already covered by yellow and red cards? Or completely new offences, such as 'looking at the ref in a strange way' or 'making a heart shape with your hands after scoring a goal'?

Yellow cards were mainly introduced to cover all of those crafty fouls players were getting away with that didn't quite warrant a red. Fine. But a yellow is all you need. Now they'll spend so much time pondering what colour to use the game will probably last another ten minutes.

Yet another example of minds that cannot think in even the most vaguely logical fashion.

Just gives the refs more ways to fuck teams over. It'll lead to more cynical fouls and teams going for out 10 men behind the ball after stopping attacks for 10 mins.

It bollocks

Ah good, what is definitely needed is another card/set of sub rules so we can give the refs who already cant apply the rules at all/equally even more to consider when making decisions, definitely wont equate to even more time wasted in matches and refs making even more game changing mistakes.

Even if the officiating of the game was at the very highest level, and the supporting technology was flawless, this would still be a shit and unnecessary idea.

As it is, it’s just another nail in the coffin of that thing we used to call football.
