Right, now the first shitfest of the new f***ball season has come and gone, when can we see some proper sports men and women who actually give a shit about more than money, Bentleys and headphones?

 

Anyone know if there's an opening ceremony of sorts?

 

My sister is a Gamesmaker for the games. I'm very proud although my Dad has started referring to her as "Her Majesty". You'd have thought the Olympics wouldn't have gone ahead if she hadn't got this gig. Anyway, I'm chuffed to bits for her and really looking forward to the games.

Ch 4 are showing the opening ceremony live on Wednesday the 29zh of August from 20:00-23:20... Presenters are Jon Snow and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

 

On Thursday the 30th they start coverage at 09:15-12:00pm Quick 5 minute news break then further coverage from 12:05-15.25...Then Ch 4 shows its normal programs for a while but hands the paralympics over to More 4 who have coverage from 15:25-17:25...Then its back to Ch 4 from 17:25-18:25pm and then More 4 again from 18:25-19:30...then finally back to Ch 4 for paralympics tonight from 19:30-22.30

 

Presenters for the programs are Clare Balding, Ade Adepitan, Jonathan Edwards, Daraine Mulvihill amongst others. The schedule is the same every day apart from the weekend when it is exclusively on Ch 4 for the whole time from 07:00am for a breakfast show and on through to 22:30 with the odd 5 min news break.

I know where you're coming from...and I'm sure even the organisers can hardly have dared hope the Olympics would have been the success they were but I think that will now work to the paralympics' advantage with people wanting to get a bit more of that feeling.

 

I was going to say it is a shame the BBC didnt get the coverage rights but I'm now interested to see what C4 make of it

Sorry, but I'm not buying the hype for this and have no desire to pretend it's going to be anything but shit. Fair play to them and all that, but for me it is nowhere near competitive enough to get me interested. I heard an interview with some paralympian the other day who pretty much on a whim has moved down from doing marathon distance events, to doing the 400m or something, and is hopeful of a gold. At Olympic level, if there was even a moderate level of competition, a switch like that should be impossible.
