I do want to watch it, although I think I've only seen one or two of the other "prequels", but I still can't quite fathom how it has made quite so much money at the box office.

Yeah, that was unexpected - especially when you consider how these characters aren't nearly as well known in the mainstream as the likes of Spider-Man/Batman.

I suppose all those extended trailers they brought out as films helped.

ATM = Straight to dvd shite of the most pungently reeking variety. And I watched ALL of the fucking thing.

The Turin Horse = A bit arthouse, long repetative shots of a bleak landscape, sparse farmhouse peopled by two characters with even more sparse dialogue. Things are bad and they get worse. Mesmeric, involving and open to any number of interpretations, I thought it was great.

The Dictator = Baron Cohen's schtick turning to schlock.

2 at the weekend.

Mirror mirror - watchable but nothing to get worked up about. Kids loved it. 6/10

Equilibrium - tried to be the matrix in parts but overall a decent film. Not a bad storyline. 7/10

As for film scenes, this rocks.

Taken 2- cynical, cash in sequel that loses much of the sense of ludicrous enjoyment the original had, along with nearly all of the violence. Its been heavily and very obviously edited in order to secure a 12a certificate. This makes many of the action sequences choppy at best, incomprehensible at worst, as Neeson seems to be hugging many of the bad guys to death. 4/10.

Looper - while there's lots to like about this film it fails to deal with the time travelling paradoxes it creates. 8/10 if you don't think about it too much.

Spoiler alert

Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal.

Cut to the chase - old Joe travels to the past, young Joe sees him and kills himself (Young Joe); so old Joe can't exist, so he can't travel back to the past, so young Joe won't kill himself, rinse and repeat.

It's the grandfather paradox and the film doesn't seem to solve it. Or maybe it does and I've missed it. Help.

Looper was very enjoyable 8.5/10 and Emily Blunt has to be the hottest hottie in Hollywood surely?! But what perplexed me most was...

...the one part that doesn't work in the film is the Paul Dano one. I guess it's done for the FX but as soon as he is captured the only intention is to kill him ergo the future one wouldn't exist to have his fingers nose feet etc cut off bit by bit. Or am I missing something too?

Jaws

First time i've seen it as an adult, watched it loads as a kid, first time I really picked up on the politics part of it with reagrd to does he / doesnt he close the beaches etc.

Fucking brilliant

Dreyfuss, Shaw & Schneider; 3 monster actors of their generation, bumping heads with a backdrop of a monster shark stalking them. Proper sinister stuff, especially with the barrells popping up and down every now and again.

9/10 an absolute classic.
