They were awful towards him in his old age.

But, Bill had the last laugh. He took the whereabouts of the Arteta money with him to the grave.

In years to come they will make a film about some kids going to find an old treasure map in a dusty old loft showing them the way to big blue bills rich stuff and the stash of the Arteta money.

It will be called the Boonies

A true one Club man, I don’t believe he held any animosity towards us in the same way some of the supporters of his club and other clubs do. I don’t think there are many of us who held animosity towards him, even if the “People’s Club” stuff seemed to be something an old ham like him would dream up. Thoroughly decent of him to support the Hillsborough cause in the way he did too. That shouldn’t be forgotten by anyone, Red or blue. Hope he rests in peace.

Spoke to one of the Blues at work about the news as we were leaving at 6. He seemed to be upset about his passing as he was a blue, just like him. We had a quick natter surrounding football and why owners like Bill Kenwright will be a thing of the past, soon enough.

Me, personally, I never had any ill feeling towards Kenwright, he seemed genuine but was caught up in the changing landscape of football, of which he couldn't compete.

I was driving home when it broke and talksport changed the schedule to take a phone in on it for half hour or so.

Plenty phoned up and spoke positively of him  but Talksport host (Goldstein) ended every call by asking the person if they had people that could be with them tonight and people they could talk to if they needed.

it was weird

Genuinely nice bloke who didn't deserve the relentless shit he got from Evertonians down the years.

100%. He loved his club and considering their limited resources he was a decent chairman. Took far too much stick from their nobheads who thought they had a born right to win leagues and trophies.

RIP fella.

A good man.

Loved Everton, loved the ideals of community. Old school.

Shame it ended the way it did. He should have stepped aside a few years ago. Could have done without the hassle and aggro.

edit: I don’t like the tone of the thread title. Hopefully unintentional from Bruce.

Hopefully more stories like that lady above will be made public now he's passed, as happened with George Michael when he passed!

He gave £200k to help Bradley Lowery get specialist treatment as well but unfortunately he died.

The world needs less Farhad Moshiris and more Bill Kenwrights.

Where did the Arteta money stories originate from?

Everton sold Arteta to Arsenal right at the end of the summer transfer window and then said that they didn't have any money to spend in January , which is why Everton fans started questioning what had happened to the money they had got for the sale of Arteta.

It turned out that a percentage of it went to Arteta's former club and most of the rest of it was used to pay off debts and over expenditure in other areas, rather than being used to reinvest on new players.
