Players you wanted us to sign, but they signed for someone else and then were shit

Veron. He was ace for Lazio and then turned to shit at the Mancs and Chelsea thereafter. Probably one of the highest profile disappointments in football.

He's been brilliant everywhere except for United and Chelsea; that makes him one of my favourite players ever.

Alexis Sanchez when we sold Suarez. The Chilean was very good at Arsenal but has turned to shite since leaving them.

This.

I was livid that we'd sold them Suarez without insisting on Sanchez. Turns out that we'd dodged a bullet (by taking a smaller bullet in Balotelli).

Adam Johnson from Middlesbrough. He looked exactly the sort of player our team needed at the time, being a winger with skill, pace and an eye for goal - Robben-lite. At the tail end of Rafa's tenure, we were increasingly short of guile and players who could move opponents about and free up space for players like Torres. Johnson joined moneybags City instead, hardly got a game for them before moving on to Sunderland and then then Her Majesty's Pleasure.

Another player I wanted us to sign was Frank Worthington back in the early 70's as we were clearly interested in him but he failed the medicals. Probably down to his playboy lifestyle. He was really good for Leicester before falling out with his teammates then he went on to play for a shit load of other clubs but without being great at any. A shame, because he was really talented when he could give a fuck.

Mkhitaryan, Konoplyanka, Fekir are recent ones, to be fair they might be doing alright for all I know but haven't been making big headlines so therefore they are utter horseshit and that's the bottom line.

I was fucking gutted when Man Utd signed Poborsky following a decent Euros and we 'only' signed Paddy Burger instead. There are probably hundreds more.

Obafemi Martins. Signed for Newcastle around the same time as we signed Kuyt and I was fuming we hadn't been in for him. To be fair he wasn't that shit for the toon, and had a better rate of goals return for them than Dirk had for us.

In hindsight I'm glad we signed Kuyt though. Top lad.

I used to sign him in Pro Evo, and play him with Cisse. You could just run past everyone, but then they'd bloot it into row Z. Pretty realistic actually.

Wasnt he the player who they claimed was about 18 but was actually about 36?

Is t the story

His blood pressure was sky high, Shanks told him to take a holiday come back in 2 weeks and we will finish the deal. Only he bumped into a load of footballers in Spain. Spent the next two weeks on the Ale and banging his was to a dose of the clap and came back with a even higher reading

Royston Drenthe

Saw him at the U21 championships, looked immense. Better than Babel, then we played Feynoord in preseason and he got in a late scuffle with Gerrard(I wanted him more, a 28 year old not afraid to get stuck right in). Went to Everton and the rests history

Wanyama. He was immense for Celtic. I genuinely thought he would be perfect for us when we didn't have a hard bastard ball winner in the middle. Did ok at southampton and has been shit at spurs apart from that screamer at Anfield.

Joaquin. Never fulfilled his potential at Valencia then the rest.

Ricardo Rodriguez the Swiss left back. He did well at the 2014 World Cup and we were looking for a new left back at the time (we signed Moreno). Rodriguez looked solid defensively, could link up with the attack and could deliver an excellent set-piece. He joined Milan a few years back and has become a player who can't run, can't defend and offers fuck-all offensively.

A lot like Moreno. Must have been a difficult choice.
