Failure to win today is not a “disaster” you mug. Failure to progress on Wednesday would be the disaster.

We're not going to throw a 3 goal lead in Rome so I'm not so concerned about Wednesday.

We still need 4 more points from our last 3 games to guarantee a top 4 finish so not winning today against a mediocre team given what's at stake DOES constitute a disaster in my book.

I've always preferred the play your strongest team, win the game and then rest players once you're comfortably ahead. Manager's always do it the reverse and end up throwing on their best players in the 2nd half often trying to rescue a desperate situation.

I can't believe I'm nervous about a truly dire Stoke side. We absolutely must win this otherwise our game against Chelsea becomes a top four play off.

Early kick off - check

Following European Cup - check

Shite alehouse opposition - check

Shite alehouse opposition managed by shite British Manager - check

All the ingredients are there....let's make sure we don't fall over eh reds - smash these!

We kind of played that approach that last weekend, got a 2 nil lead, made subs and hey presto 2-2. Until we get a better bench we can't afford to adopt that tactic unfortunately.

Mate, I'm just happy Jon Walters is no longer there to turn into prime form Alan Shearer for 90 minutes.

---------Karius------

----Gomez--Klavan--VVD--

TAA-------------------Moreno

---Henderson---Gini---------

---------Firmino-----------

------Salah-----Ings-----

5-2-1-2 defend or 3-4-1-2 attack

I am standing by this. Firmino will be crucial when he drops deep in the midfield. I think he will be playing most of the game there whilst Ings will play off Salah.
