Henderson seems to be ommitted constantly.

He'll be a first teamer next season. He's not been bought for the bench, plus to develop his game and achieve his potential he needs games.

I think he's been bought for the first team, but not for this season. He'll get plenty of games but I don't think he'll be first choice. For me, he's Gerrard's replacement so it'll be a couple of seasons before he's an automatic selection.

Could depend on Gerrard's fitness - if he ends up breaking down again a couple of times next season, it would be foolish to have him considered a first teamer. As great as he's been, you have to build the team first and a part-time member can't be one of the first names on the team sheet.

You mean a world class player who even when injured can influence a game? He's the first name on the team sheet when fit and that's that.

I'm pretty confident that he's going to come back and give us a fine season, he's had his op and a decent rest with sensible recuperation and physio.

I agree and disagree with your first paragraph. In theory, I agree. However, if his body continues to prove as unreliable a vehicle as it was last season, he needs to be used somewhat sparingly, not whacked in the team for every game as soon as he's fit. If resting him for 10 - 15 league games per season is what it takes to have him fit and ready when it really matters, then that's what should be done. I hope that in the not too distant future we'll have the squad to really get the best of all worlds in that way.

Obviously I hope you're right on the latter point. It's (hopefully) going to prove a good thing that he's had such a rest.

Dont do this to yourself guys. Liverpools starting 11 is nowhere near the best and havent improved much from last season. Yes you have used alot of money to strengthen the squad. But your problem last season was even fit first 11 the quality wasnt as good as your rivals and not much have changed.

People talk like Adam is different level to meireles, like Hender is better than Lucas. Caroll has looked of the pace and it seems the team has to change tactics to get the better of him. he will make Liverpool more predictable and easier to play against. When Liverpool played with Kuyt and Suarez against smaller teams the movement was hard for those teams. Thats one thing smaller teams struggle with....movement. But with Caroll in the team its easier for them to play against Liverpool and that will be a big problem for you. I know this is something that alot of you will never admit to, but im sure it has crossed most of your minds. The talk about Downing is to get the better of Caroll, so basically it will be simple cross to Caroll until he heads in. I expect Liverpool to become more predictable and struggle with the smaller teams like last season. One thing Liverpool lacked last season was pace.....and that has not been addressed

Why do you come on here? I seriously don't get it.

Ahhh 'IF' I understand now. I would hope that the groin injury he was carrying has been taken care of now so baring any slight knocks he (like any other player) might get we should be fine with him.

Obviously without a pre season and with no match fitness his return to the side is going to need to be managed and I've every confidence in the specialist we have at the club to ensure that happens. But I'll not lay awake at night worrying he might end up a sick note all season or wishing away his career because of that.

In the past he has probably been played when he really shouldn't have been, this is of course due to the fact he's just an amazing footballer, we are gaining strength in depth so if he has a niggle then it won't be as important to risk him.

I think he is, purely because he's our only defensive midfielder. We'll be two open if we have Adam and Gerrard as our two centre midfielders.

I'm not sure. Gerrard can play a defensive midfield role if required, and do it astonishingly well, no doubt. It will be fascinating to see where he plays this season. I am hoping he will be more effective, choosing when to make his runs more carefully, because for the first time for many years we'll have a number of people in the team that can make things happen - he won't feel he has to do it all by himself. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gerrard playing in AM, DM, and on the right on some occasions. That all depends of course on whether or not we bring in any more top notch players.

Why shouldn't he come here? Lots of Liverpool fans are on other clubs forums, why get precious over an Arsenal fan coming here? As far as I know it's not against the rules for supporters of other teams to come here to offer an alternative opinion.

No offence but I'm amazed that you rate it, given that you a) don't know what it is and b) haven't seen it play.

This is a thread for next May.

I'm going to bump up this thread after we challenge for the title in May.

Instead of people think im p!ssing them off....lets have a discussion. Is it wrong to say one of Liverpools problems last season was lack of pace throughout the team? What has Liverpool done to fix this problem? I dont wanna be a d!ck....but I still see the same problem as last season, Liverpool will do well against better teams as those teams will not sit back and Liverpool have good enough players to punish them. But when smaller teams sit deep and defend, i just dont see enough pace and flair in that team.

I am going to bite here ABS. I think you get a lot of stick and probably rightly so as you are a bit of a WUM. Up until now though I havent seen such a senseless post. Have you ever played a good standard of ball? Its not a slag if you haven't as its rare to get to a good level but i generally hear the pace arguement from lads who haven't.

In a top league team everyone generally has good pace apart from centre half who can read the game well. i'll admit that if you have ridiculous pace and can use it then you are invaluable but it is very very rare. Walcott is the example - fast and shite. Suarez is the flip side, not so fast but sublime. What's faster a ball or a man - 1st principle in training - pass and move. Your post annoyed me as an Arsenal fan you should know this - what KK has signed is quik passers - boom. Wilschere quick? he is average for premiership but his quick mind makes him exceptional. You are a birdbrain couch fan who is on a wind up - do us all a favour and go convince your "star" nasri who had a good 6 months to stay. Spa
