80th Anniversary celebrations for the Battle of the Atlantic are on this weekend in Liverpool down at the Pier Head, and the link below has the times of the flypasts.

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Fairey Swordfish and even a Supermarine Seafire.

Few vessels docked as well.

Anniversary of Waterloo tomorrow

Yesterday was the battle of Ligny and the skirmishes around Quatre Bras with Ney and Wellington trying to hold positions and waiting on news of Ligny. Before Wellington retreats to Waterloo.

A big part of the eventual French defeat is today with Blűcher disengaging and ending up closer to the battle(and eventually flanking the French)than Grouchy French who thought they were retreating in a different  direction

Has anyone watched 'The US and the Holocaust ' on the BBC? It's an astonishing piece of filmmaking, showing America's response to the atrocities of the Nazis. It gives some extraordinary context and insight, and highlights the hypocrisy/cognitive dissonance in American attitudes to immigration.

It's one of the most compelling and moving things I've ever watched.

You can’t go wrong with Ken Burns:

I can vouch for The Civil War, Unforgivable Blackness, Jackie Robinson and The Roosevelt’s all being excellent.

I can vouch for The Civil War too, as well as The West, Muhammad Ali, Prohibition and The Vietnam War.

All excellent. Even his Baseball one. I’ve no interest in the sport but I’m past halfway in that series.

BBC News - Evidence found of German mass execution by French Resistance after D-Day

You can imagine the anger of the French Resistance though and despite it being morally wrong unless you were watching the Nazis murder men woman and children for nothing much at all it's hard to condemn them.
