How about something like no restrictions on players except you can only have a maximum of 3 players that have played for Barca and a maximum of 3 players that have played for Madrid leaving at least five players to come from the other teams?

Best way to do restrictions would just be no more than 3 players per team. So if a player has played for Barca and Real Madrid and you pick him then you lose a pick for both sides.... ? 

 

Debut after 1/1/1990 as well?

I think it’ll be hard enough without putting a cut-off date in. Yeah if you pick someone who has played for both Barca and Madrid then that takes away one pick for each side.

Like Rapey said, may as well just do all time. If people want to take a risk with a lesser know player from the 30's then its on them

I haven’t looked into it yet but there might be a few gems from the 70s and 80s who played in Spain for the smaller teams.

You can pick players who played after 1990 or 1995 or 2000 or whenever you feel comfortable with. It’s no skin off your nose if other people pick players who played in the 80s or whenever.

It is because I'd have to vote on match-ups between teams who may contain players from those eras.

Don't worry about other people’s teams just do your own. Any older players picked are likely to be huge names who everyone will know. It shouldn’t be hard to decide which team you like best.

 

No one is that arsed about the voting bit of the draft anyway. It’s picking your own team that’s the good part.

 

If anything, it’ll make it easier for you. Every older player picked makes the pool of potential picks from newer players bigger.

I'm kind of in this boat too - well, more that I'm not sure how many I know but I suspect it'll be slim pickings. I doubt I could name more than 20 current La Liga players who haven't played for Barca or Madrid off the top of my head.
