I think that's probably got a good chance of being true.

Sell Coutinho for the £90 million being reported to PSG. Buy Salah and Keita for a combined £95 million. Maybe chuck in Oxo Chambo as well for £25 mill.

1 player out, 3 players in, net spend of £25 - 30 million.

Knowing that we've got Coutinho cash lined up would certainly explain why we don't seem fazed by the mooted fee for Keita, and why we've been tilting at a fair few expensive players.

Thats how I expected the summer to go before it started... honestly... except i figured Coutinho to Barca.

If that turns out to be the case then it is time for fsg to do one.

If we actually manage to not balls this one up, we will have increased the depth to our midfield. On the flip side, players like Grujic need meaningful game time in order to develop, and that is time he wouldn't really get here even when we rotate. Maybe Liverpool and Leipzig could include a one-season loan for Grujic to go in the opposite direction. There is less competition for places at Leipzig but the addition of Grujic would allow them to invest in a replacement for Keita without affecting whatever midfield depth they currently have. The player stands a better chance of being in the first-team picture next season and if he does well, we have a viable future option on our hands, or at the very least a player we can make a lot of money on.

Lucas regularly had to start games in our midfield last season....

We have more games to play this coming one and with the injury prone nature of our players there will be chances for Grujic and everybody (who is any cop) especially assuming Lucas and Stewart leave.

We loan out enough players only for them to never make it here...i'd keep Grujic around we need the depth.

It's not even signings being imminent these days, is it?  It's just starting the basic negotiating process...

No doubt Melissa reddy's next twitter thread is going to tell us how serious we are. Ignore the fact that we don't seem to have even spoken to Leipzig yet.

Our best negotiators are putting together a highly persuasive package for the player. So persuasive it's taking fucking weeks to put together, no chance it'll be dismissed out of hand as a first offer at all...

Half expecting the next story to say that Edwards is currently analysing the easyjet booking page to determine whether the much more practical 10:30am departure warrants the extra £20. Imminent!
