Ha ha. He’s been soundly trounced by a fat bald late middle aged sunburnt English bloke wearing Marks and Spencer’s swimming shorts, cheap glasses and carrying a man bag. That’s the image that will haunt them both, their relationship is basically fucked now.

I’m finding that very easy to masturbate over.

Beat a very cool and fit looking Italian chap at pool in front of his gorgeous bikini wearing girlfriend and a long queue of people in wheelchairs queuing for the only lift in the hotel. Basically the Crucible but in a warmer climate.

We get it mate, you're on holiday.

My youngest got his GCSE results today.

I think this particular year has had it tough generally, having had a decent chunk of their education disrupted for various reasons.

I’ve said elsewhere that he recently got an Autism diagnosis. All this really did was confirm what we already knew, and why he’s found being at ‘big school’ so hard.

He’d done his exams before the diagnosis, so never had any real help. He’s also been having speech therapy, which also impacted his confidence at school.

All things considered we weren’t expecting much, however….

He’s passed everything apart from French.

Grades are good enough to take up a place at Wakefield College doing A Levels in English Language, English Literature, and Sociology.

We’ll make sure he gets the help he needs from here on in as well. There’ll be bumps in the road, but I feel very proud of him today.

On reflection, this might not be a ‘little thing’.

Good stuff, good luck to him.

I’m on a roll with stuff for this thread at the minute.

Following on from the positive GCSE results my youngest got last week, today my eldest informed me that he received the ‘Star of the Shift’ award from McDonald’s last night.

He’s had three jobs in the last year, with the aim of saving some money before he starts University in a couple of weeks.

The first two (Garden Centre Cafe and Dinner lady at a local School) both ended with him being sacked/let go for essentially being ‘a bit rubbish’ so this accolade means quite a bit to him (and his parents).

As ‘Star of the Shift’ he got to pick a number that contained his prize. He could have won a fully paid shift off. He actually won a bubble making machine.

Stopped at the services yesterday on the way to London, had a bite to eat, a cup of tea and used the toilet.

Im sat in trap 2 and just as an almighty turd broke away from my arse the sat nav on my phone states “Proceed to the route”.

It’s been making me giggle ever since.

My boy’s done a gap year as well, wanted/needed to resit one exam. He’s been doing three shifts a week at Tesco, taking the odd bit of overtime, etc. Anyway, he got the A he needed to get into uni and then quit his job.

It’s August, he doesn’t leave until mid-October. I thought to myself “what a lazy little bastard” but then I remembered that I haven’t got a job and he’s earned himself a couple of months of basically being on the piss, so I took him the pub, got him merry and allowed him to instigate a heart-to-heart.

These opportunities are so precious.

I read somewhere recently, and I can’t remember the exact statistic, but it’s something like 90% of the time we’ll ever spend with our kids is over by the time they’re eighteen.

Reading it filled me with regret for time not taken with my own dad, and time lost with my own kids.

If only life had a rewind button.

Going out just me and this lad. Heads battered at the minute but not when it’s walk time. Managed to get him off the lead in the park now (nearly lost him last week….) and seeing him run free which he’d never done before we got him just makes me smile.

What type of dog is that, looks a bit German Shepherdy but perhaps a mix with another breed?

Lovely dog, I want one.

We don’t fully know mate, the rescue told us he’s lab/springer but no chance. I think he’s possibly lab/rottie maybe with some beagle in him. His temperament is pretty much perfect. So loving and playful. I’ve had a lot of spare time to train him and immerse him in his new life which has been a blessing for him. He probably thinks I’m a tit because every night he has a mad hour and just wants to knock fuck out of me.

He’s absolutely ace

Seeing a 'D' reg Astra, Granada, Sierra or Escort on the motorway and being bemused that there are still people out there clinging on to these magnificant machines.

I was walking home yesterday and a white Allegro went past me. Absolutely immaculate I had one around 1984 and they got slagged to bits but mine never missed a beat.

I've had 2 Granada's in dim and distant past, one of the last mk2's which was a 2.8 manual and a 1988 mk3 2.0 auto.

I loved the mk2, the last of the proper Fords for me, wouldn't go past a petrol station though.

The mk3 was an absolute twat of a car, I hated it. The Sierra I had inbetween was no better either with both being plagued with electrical problems, and a diff whine in the Granada at 40,000 miles.

I was glad to see the back of them both.
