Emre Can

Can going to Juventus? Well I never!

Good luck Emre. Didn’t do anything wrong, but didn’t do anything to make us love you either. Wound down your contract, assessed your options, benefitted from Bosman and, I’m sure, a multi-million signing bonus instead of the club receiving a fee. I’m sure you were right to do it, certainly in your own eyes, as your priority is Emre Can FC. You only have one short career so it’s yours to steward as you see fit.

Good player, not great. Fast enough on the gallop, but not fast enough off the mark, or crucially, in thought, to shine in the team Klopp is building. Definitely good enough to have a nice highlight reel, but I won’t be crying too much. Sign Meyer so we lose/gain a Bosman of similar quality, and Keita will be the one to significantly improve that midfield.

The slower game in Italy will suit Can and I expect him to do well, but I honestly could not say he starts in our best eleven if everyone is fit and well, and that’s before the summer window.

Sorry to lose a valuable young international for nothing but I'd be lying if I said i'll miss him a great deal as a footballer. Solid squad player, nothing more for me. The fact he's played so much football for us is a reflection on our lack of quality there, rather than him being top class. Sure he'll do well for Juve and we will continue to make strides without him. C'est le vie.

Always wanted to like him, but always thought there was something missing from his game.

Slower pace in Italy should suit him, and with Keita/Neves whoever we bring in, we will wind up with players better suited to Herr Klopp’s doctrine.

Not too bothered about this one, bar not getting a fee.
