LIverpool reject £40 million bid from Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres Liverpool have confirmed that they have rejected a £40 million bid for striker Fernando Torres. Rebuffed: LIverpool have rejected a £40 million bid from Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres Photo: GETTY IMAGESBy Telegraph staff 11:17PM GMT 27 Jan 2011 The Spanish international has been linked with a host of clubs over the past 12 months, including Manchester City and Barcelona, but Chelsea have made the first move. A Liverpool spokesman said last night: "Chelsea have made an offer for Fernando, which has been rejected. The player is not for sale." Premier League champions Chelsea ar…

Didn't want to start a new thread but I felt a few things needed clearing up Just to clarify Dubai are still very much interested in the club, and there is an offer that is still on the table for both the Americans to take them up on, and has been for a while. The offer on the table would see both Americans walk away with over £60 million each, and is worth around £500 million in total. From what I understand, both Hicks and Gillett are holding out for £100 million profit each, which would value the club at over £600 million, taking any deal well over £600 million, nearly £400 million more than the £219 million they paid David Moores and other shareholders…

I wanted the Dutch to win but VVD isn't there so I'm all in on Croatia although France should walk it. I pray Scotland beat England though. How fucking funny would that be. Actually Croatia, Holland, Italy or Scotland to win. I've got a horrible feeling England will win it.

Gundogan hasn't signed a new contract has he? I'd approach Sebastian Rode too if I was Klopp.

With Christmas just around the corner, our crisis at the back has hit us big time. Will we find a left back and striker? It seems like Sakho is finally heading to Lille on a permanent deal.

With Tevez apparently being lined up as his replacement I wanted to get the feel of the forum. Stay or go? Forgive and allow him to stay or sell the crazy world class footballer?

Xabi has gone. We've got loads to spend, hopefully but who to buy???? Villa? Cattermole? Silva? Turner? Ribery? Barry? Oh I give up, lets just hope Lucas turns out to be better than Alonso.

Mario Balotelli’s agent is reportedly in talks with Liverpool over a £14m move from AC Milan. According to Italian broadcasters Mediaset, Mino Raiola – who represents the Italy striker – has already begun negotiating a deal for his client to move to the Anfield outfit this summer. A report on the media giants’ website claims that the Reds see Balotelli as a perfect replacement for Luis Suarez, who completed a £75m move to Spanish giants Barcelona in July. AC Milan are keen to sell the 23-year-old to raise funds for the purchase of players, and would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £14m to £16m for the former Manchester City forward. http://…

Apparently Dejan Lovren, Simon Mignolet and Mamadou Sakho all speak French.

So he's been here one season and we've seen enough of him to form a solid view of what he brings (or not, as the case may be) to the team. With a defensive record as poor as ours it seems sensible to focus on issues at the back. For me Mignolet's lack of aerial command has a profound influence on the rest of the defensive set up although I know others don't see it the same way. I think he was a bit better at this aspect of his game towards the end of the season but there's definitely room for further improvement. Thoughts?

Now I know I got told off for starting a new thread the other week but what the hell. New ground or refurbished stadium. Big issue because it looks like its back on the agenda big style, all sorts of things to consider, atmosphere, capacity, revenue, disruption, tradition, anfield area, bits that need knocking down. Lot to consider but I think it's time start having a view because from what I see the potential owners might just listen. My view is that its a balance between revenue and atmosphere, is it possible to create an atmosphere that only Anfield has produced in a 60/70k stadium and if we had one would we be able to fill it with the way the world is going. I kno…

Hahahaha! Are you any closer to a title tilt then? Is the project not as big? Good to see you've dyed your hair in a desparate attempt to capture former glories.

So, what do we reckon? I’ll give it two years maximum. He’ll get the first couple of transfer windows free because they’ll want to look like they’re invested in the ‘project’ but the majority of them will still want instant results. Thankfully these days instant results for them would be sneaking into the top 4. What a time to be alive.

On the taxi home yesterday I was thinking about everything, SOS, the club, Rafa, Parry and Hicks We all know Hicks and Benitez are friends now, and they both share the common goal of getting Parry out, for the same reason, control. If Hicks gets Parry out, he gets control of the club, if Benitez gets Parry out he gets control of the transfers if he believes Hicks. It seems to me Benitez is once again, playing with the fans, and using us against Parry. We all know Parry is the biggest cunt in the world, but hear me out, if he is the one keeping the Yanks from getting a hold of this club, then I want him in there. I've hit a brick wall with the whole ownership thing…

Sorry to start another thread, but the transfer threadon Carroll is to long and this is more about the player and his qualities. So who is our new signing and what qualities does he have which can help us both in the short and the loing term. The one thing most people know is that he has had a great season so far in the PL scoring 11 goals in 19 games, 18 starts. So lets take a look at his stats and see if they can tell us something. 10/11: PL: 19 (18+1)matches - 11 goals - 3 assists Great return for such a young player in an average team like Newcastle, he does not take penalties either and that makes his starts even better compared to most others on…
