*Shakes head* Everton again.

Sam Allardyce has not asked for reassurance from the Everton board after his future was plunged into doubt this week.

The Blues boss admits he was “surprised” at a national newspaper report which claimed the club have already drawn up a list of candidates to replace him in the summer.

Allardyce signed an 18 month contract in November when replacing the sacked Ronald Koeman but admitted his long-term job prospects relied on “results and entertainment”.

A run of just two wins in 11 - including heavy defeats at Spurs and Arsenal - have increased the pressure on Allardyce but he insists he has not gone to the board this week asking for their backing.

“No. Not at all. No,” he said.

“I’ve got 1,000 games under my belt and seven Premier League clubs. This is not the only club I’ve been at where there has been rumour and speculation about my position.

“I’ve lost out on two football clubs by a change in ownership, they simply don’t fancy you when there is a change at the football club for some reason.

“This football club, just for now, we know its ambition, I certainly know Farhad’s ambition and it has lifted and excited everybody across the board.

“At the moment we’re having an instability that we have to make stable and then rebuild to go forward and the way I can do that is, as I’ve been saying for weeks, I’ve got to get results, the players have to get results and if we get results everything moves forward.

“If you don’t get results there will always be speculation about you and your job.”

At his pre-match press conference, Allardyce said the expectations at Everton were the same as at former clubs West Ham and Newcastle.

But does he think his expectations of the Everton team this season differ to those of the supporters?

“I don’t think that is any different here to anywhere else I’ve been,” he said.

“Because as a professional your life is all about what you’ve trained to do all your life and supporters’ expectations are simple: commitment, passion for the shirt and performances that show that you are committed to that shirt and that football club to try and get results to send the fans home happy.

“And that doesn’t change anywhere at any football club I’ve been at, in any division.

“The bigger the support-base, the bigger the pressure, the more you and the players have to handle it so we have to, obviously, do better away from home but I have to say that we have very few people mentioning our home record which sits in the top four.

“Our points per game over eight home games would certainly sit in the top six so we’ve got one side of it very, very good but the other side is poor so we’ve got to balance that off: keep the good side going and get better on the negative side which is results away from home.”

Fat Sam is completely oblivious to his own flaws.

They must teach a 'How to bullshit your way to the top' course at the LMA, because all these British managers have ideas above their station. If in doubt, bring up your record and completely gloss over the fact that it is the definition of mediocre at best, and absolutely shite at worst.

That's pretty much it. The top, top coaches have no need to defend their record as it absolutely speaks for itself. When was the last time you heard Guardiola say how many titles he has won over his career?

Interestingly, Mourinho seems to be speaking more and more about his previous record...

Frowback Friday.

I still get a buzz off everything about this.

The Martinez March - not the most cost effective pound to person ratio that's ever been spent in marketing....

Wow, that's... ...er... ...a turnout all right!

Not so much a march as a small delegation....

And with no sense of irony given they're welcoming a Spanish manager....

Jackie @twortyj
@xxxxxxxxxdx it was s great turn out all British  :)

Sadly, quite a lot of it is true though. We have a fucking awful minority at times.

No more so than any other group of fans.

And, for example, I've certainly heard many more Reds condemning Munich songs than actually singing them.

The way he's trawled the worst of our history to find isolated examples of misconduct and then generalised from them is basically textbook bigotry.

I agree other clubs are as bad or worse. I just thought the tone of DT's post was as if none of it was true. Personally I thought that stuff that happened in Athens was the lowest point in our history. It happened, it was real and it was fucking disgusting.

I was on the Gwladys Street for the derby in 86/87. They sang it loud and proud.

Like we used to.

Not at all. We have some bad bellends following us and that Athens thing was terrible.

I'm sure if some of us did a 40 year investigation into Everton fans behaviour we could come up with some bad examples.

I know you don't mean we should do this, and I'm not having a pop at you here mate. but, I really think we should have a fierce football rivalry and the remainder should be left out. The rivalry should be fun. It should agitate a bit when we lose and feel proportionately good when we win.

We have loads in common with the blues. They're among our brothers, cousins and best mates. What I've seen since the 90's is horrible from both sides. We can't just look for them to make conciliatory actions, we have to too. Not sure how to begin like, but there is my sanctimonious two penneth.

There is less that divides us than unites us.

I don't disagree mate. And some of their stuff is worse as they do it in numbers or pretend their manc song isn't about Hillsborough.

Why is Alistair Campbell on Sky interviewing Sean Dyche and generally being portrayed as if he's some chummy BBC DJ?

The man was a shameless spokesman for war criminals and seems to gets a pass from the media. Henry Kissinger will be hosting Monday Night Football next.

Sam will already be planning what to spend his pay off on, and his next job saving a relegation threatened team. Nice work if you can get it, or should I say if you're a British Manager in the LMA.

Yep, the bunch of them doing the relegation rounds remind me of those people who throw themselves in front of cars to get a pay off.
