Lavia is rubbish though.
Can’t really pass, dodgy tackling technique, no good in the air, fat arse.

He doesn't make a high volume of passes but when he does pass his completion is around 86%, his short and mid range passing is up at 90%-91% which is what you want from a DM, his long range passing is at around 76% which drags his overall passing down.

Context to that will be quality of those around him.

By comparison the experienced England international Ward Prowse has a pass competition of 78.9% split 90% short passing, 84.9% medium and 44.7% long passing.

This Saudi league is getting on quickly. Guy is in the prime of his career.

Jota has moved to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad from Celtic for an undisclosed fee.

The Portuguese winger, 24, initially joined Celtic on loan from Benfica in 2021 before Celtic signed him on a five-year deal last summer.

Only needs to spend a season there and he's extremely comfortable money wise for life. Gutted to se such a good player fuck off over there (Gutted seeing anyone go there to be honest) but if Rodgers gets to spend the money on the Celtic squad then it can only be good for the green side of Glasgow.

The club that signed Firmino and are reportedly interested in Thiago have a history of not paying players their wages. I know they have been taken over by PIF - not sure I'd fancy getting into beef with the Crown Prince if shit goes wrong.

Promises sound good but there are lots of foreigners sold the dream globally in all occupations before fleeing lamenting being sold a pup.

FIFA’s website details a swathe of decisions from its Dispute Resolution Chamber and contract breaches are common. Over 50 labour disputes involving Saudi clubs have been heard inside the last 12 months and, as recently as March 8, there was the case of Grabban and Al Ahli, one of the four clubs taken over by Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, this week

There was nothing exceptional about Grabban’s case. Players have seen wages go unpaid by Saudi clubs when injured and, in the worst cases, had contracts torn up and visas withheld.

I see City are selling a 20 year old goalkeeper to a team managed by an ex City player.

£19 million for a kid that's never played any higher than league one!

Nothing dodgy to see here....

James Trafford: Burnley agree £15m fee for Manchester City & England Under-21 goalkeeper - BBC Sport

He’s England U21’s first choice Keeper so £15m isn’t a bad price when you consider 5 years ago we sold Danny Ward to Leicester for £12.5m

Hearing Bobby will be getting a no-look wage slip.

Stopped at the mention of Pirlo. I like him, but he's just not. No. Not at all. Ridiculous.

The reason his numbers are so good are because his long passes are into open ground, usually away from goal. Spaces where defenders will not be necessarily trying to immediately win it back, but reform their shape before closing out, or where the attacker has a physical or positional advantage. In comparison Ward-Prowse will have been playing far more passes into the area, trying to create goals, much easier for defenders to intercept.

These players are only human. If you're offered tens of millions and a literal harem to swap a farmer's league for an extended holiday in Arabia, who's turning that down.

What's this?  A fundamentalist love in all of a sudden?

I don’t understand the Lavia one unless Fabinho’s going or they’re not sure about Bajcetic’s injury.

You do need more than one player per position. There are things called injuries and planning.

Florentino Luis is one of those players that doesn't really exist.

23, barely played, flitted back and for clubs on loan, talented but nobody really knows how much and everyone seem's to love him.

Bit of the William Carvalho's about him.

Just on the “why Lavia if we’re keeping Fabinho” chat, when Fabinho has turned 30, Lavia will still be 19. And in training I can’t think of many better for him to learn from and speak with.

For some reason I thought he was 22/23…

It's probably a similar phenomenon.

He was probably a wonderkid on FIFA/Pro Evo or Football Manager at some point (rather than a character on a TV show) then puts a in some good performances in real life a few years later and the collective memory of people create this mythos around the player.

Whats real and what isn't get's merged as talk about him increases beyond people who didn't play those games and a reputation is born.

Luis Rodriguez was better than Baptise anyway, we went for the wrong player.
