Our midfield

It's pretty obvious where our money goes if you look at the club accounts. Our wage bill is fucking massive. FSG don't really do external investment like eg. Abramovich did, they never have, they never will. The club's revenues mainly go on wages and other recruitment fees, and we raise funds for transfer fees by selling players. Or by cutting enough wages that we have something left over for a transfer fee. That's always been how they've operated, it probably always will be.

We're not skint, we've got a wage bill that's higher than all but four or five other teams in the world. If we were able to move players on for big fees then that would be reinvested into the team, but for a whole host of reasons - covid, Barcelona's implosion, players increasingly wanting to run down their contracts, Klopp preferring a settled squad - we haven't done that in the past few windows.

Top 4th/5th wage bill in the world, but we probably only have one of the top 20-30 highest paid players in the world

There are players deserving of that value and some that are obvious overpays. Loads of clubs pay these kinds of fees and you can tell right away it makes no sense. It really just depends. That's why knowing who the player is, is important.

It doesn't matter though. Klopp could have a list of 100 players. The club don't have any money. Even if we found the next Messi, we wouldn't sanction 60m for him, because the 60m doesn't exist.

I just don't see the harm in getting  player in earlier than originally planned.

By the sounds if it we weren't going to get Diaz til this summer but Spurs making their advances caused us to pull the trigger early and he ended up being a major part of last seasons successes.

If we're definitely planning on getting a midfielder next summer then just get the cunt in now instead, and have an extra season of having a strong squad.

We don't have the money. Bellingham or whoever will be funded by the sale of some combination of Jones/Tsimikas/Gomez/Kelleher. We'll bring in 50m in sales, FSG will give another 25m and we'll hope and pray 75m does it.

I'd like to see a breakdown of the wage bill, but we never will.

Of course we won't, it's in neither the club's not the players' interests to do that.

I would imagine it's not in the "club's" interest. Nevertheless I didn't say itemised. A breakdown between coaching staff, playing staff, admin staff, executive staff etc. We do have an unfathomably large wage bill.

Milner and Henderson are finished. Jones never really began. Thiago and Oxlade-Chamberlain are made of Faberge eggs. Fabinho is a shadow. Keita is stealing a wage. And Elliott and Carvalho are up way past their bedtime.

If we achieve top 4 with this squad it will be one of this club's greatest ever achievements.

We're in a battle for it, sure, but it would still be a shock if we dropped out.

As others have mentioned some players look knackered and/or unmotivated, a bit like during the Covid season when they realised no reinforcements were arriving. They are human, the workload catches up with them only this time I don't think some of our key players are coming out of it.

We're buggered.

Trent is a poor defender but he's our most creative player by a mile. It's time to play him in midfield (out of sheer desperation as much as anything else) and hope this Aberdeen right back kid can actually get fit and play.

I'd also strongly consider Robbo in midfield too! At least he can run fast and tackle. Tsimikas'can play left back as we all know.

Get the chequebook out John you decrepit arl cunt.

Absolutely. But Klopp bites anyone's head off who suggests playing him in midfield. And then Trent spends half his time sprinting between centre forward and right back!!

Hopefully this changes Klopps mind about bringing a boss midfielder in and letting the others worry about getting their places back when they’re all fit again. This lot aren’t reliable at all. 2 top midfielders were needed after last seasons marathon. We need them more than ever now

Klopp has said he'd like to bring in midfielder.

But he's unable to unless the player is deemed "right".  I'm sure the definition of "right" is quite flexible when being used for PR purposes.  I expect the right price is to the fore at the moment.

We're clearly skint as far as transfers are concerned.
