Love the little beaut.

In all seriousness, he's been targeted a lot over the last week or so. Tonight was a real mature and professional performance from the lad. Sane is a horrible player to keep quiet and he never looked like scoring despite the few drives he made. A sensational performance and a real pleasure to see him learning and moving few precious errors.

He's got all the tools and is a brilliant lad. We'll be behind him no matter what - made us all proud tonight and was a pleasure to watch.

Sane has never seen a pocket so deep.

The athletic gifts the lad has were all on display against a fast and skillful player, but the defensive nous was also there for everyone to see. Take a bow, and I would give him MOM, especially as he had such a tough assignment against Sane.

Both TAA and Gomez have made a few mistakes (the seasoned pros also have to be fair) but they are now that much better for being trusted to play. They have both grown enormously and we do not need a new right back. Not at all.

I go back and forth on who should get the nod. TAA back in pole position after tonight!

Tonight shows he has it in him and consistency will take time to develop. The team defended and attacked as one and when that happens, there clearly aren't many teams that can live with them. Well played, Terence.

Not sure about that, he was terrific tonight but has been terrible lately and still has a lot of work to do to become first choice for us but he's young and hopefully tonight will boost his confidence tenfold.

The fucking man

Listened on R5.

Commentators made him MOM.

"Recovery" and "delivery" most frequently used descriptions of his performance.

Robbie Savage used "incredible " every time "The Fucking Man"t was involved.

Chuck Norris never died, he took-up playing football.

Great to see some positive updates on this thread. Think the criticism aimed at him from fans and media alike has been way over the top. He's been negatively involved both at Utd and Palace, but not nearly as bad as has been made out. In all of the situations he's been given stick for I would lay the blame equally as much at Matip's and Lovren's door. Even van Dijk/Henderson/Robertson did poor jobs in those situations. He's been scapegoated because he's actually made the effort to match Rashford/Zaha when they've tried to run in between the RB/CB.

Anyway, onwards and upwards! Fantastic performance tonight!!

Exceptional performance from him tonight, top class player in the making. He made mistakes against Utd and Palace but you have to remember he's a kid who won't have faced football like that too often. At underage level nobody plays the hoof to the big man for a flick on, its quite possible he never encountered stone age football before facing up to Jose and Roy's tactics. Everything he's done so far suggests he will learn and improve quickly.

Let's hope he doesn't play on Saturday then.

He’s a special talent. He’s not even a right back and he’s putting in performances like that in the champions league quarter final against one of the best teams on the planet, at the age of 19.

We’ve got a gem on our hands
