Would you swap our season for Arsenal's or United's?

Neither. I rather watch us play fantastic football and rip teams to shreds before christmas and watch us put all the best teams to the sword than sit through shithouse ultra defensive football, 15 draws, and a manager crying about conspiracies and acting like a gobshite every day.

I'd also prefer it to the entire fanbase being at war with each other and watching a club legend get treated like a piece of shit on the floor.

This.

Arsenal and Manchester United achieved more but did they achieve what they need?

Arsenal probably not because of the emphasis on Champions League, Man Utd yes I would say they achieved a lot this season.  Automatic qualification is the icing on the cake for them.

I agree with the Rev that we're on an upward curve, I just don't see it as the breakthrough season because the lack of European football helped us no end and next season everything is reset to zero.  We still have it all to do in the transfer market and a qualifier to get through. All the other teams will improve and you can't take "we were great against the top six" into next season.  Although you can take confidence from those results in themselves they mean nothing.

Thought provoking conundrum; win a trophy (or rather a cup) and finish 5th or 6th or, finish potless and 4th.

Ive got to pin my hat to the no title in 27 years is a bigger disgrace than no trophy in 5 years argument. Id rather finish 4th and climb the league because every effort to win a cup will push my desire to win number 19 further and further away.

The obvious blot in all this comes in the form of the CL. Competing in this while bringing the riches and players needed to win a title, not getting out of the group will be seen as failure. It also means we more than likely, will end up like arsenal. That is qualified for the CL and nowhere near winning the title but picking up the odd cup or two.

Id take our season over those two's.

I'd take United's over ours,no danger. In fact last season we could easily have had the same season they had this year. The FA Cup has become so devalued its almost of no consequence any more. You can get a EL place from the League Cup anyway, and avoid a fixture pile up at season's end.

Man Utd had the best season.  They have two trophies, automatic CL qualification and will sign Griezmann.  We'll fanny around for the whole summer until after the qualifier, then revive our interest in Clint Dempsey.

He's right.  Certainly about the first bit, and quite possibly about the second.

I'm one of those guys who wants the FA cup winner to get the 4th (qualifier) spot, so we wouldn't have gotten anywhere at all if I had my way.

Trophies trump league position every day, especially when you don't come out of the gates swinging to improve the squad clearly with a mind to compete for trophies the next season.

Have you seen that shite Manc meme though?  They think us finishing above them is a big deal to us?  I first saw it and assumed it was a 4th place trophy joke (a mate showed it to me and saw me go from dismissive to baffled in record time), truly astonished when I actually read it - no idea where that nonsense's come from.

No. I wouldn't swap anything with either of them. Both cunts of the highest order although one of them is a good light year higher in the cunt order than the other. Both cunts. Fuck them. I'd rather rot than be associated with either. Shithouses.

If Everton got through a quarter final and semi final, listening to Moyes, Neville, Bellew talk so much shit for 2 months.

I mean beating them in the final, would be amazing.

But thinking about the possibility we could bottle it; amongst us on the forum, it would be anxious as fuck, for 6 weeks.

Imagine putting your name on shit like that. Purely written for a reaction

I normally think Evans is a bit shit, but he's not far off there for me.

Chelsea should be top though as they won the league and got to the cup final.

Chelsea

Man U

Arsenal

Spurs

Us

Man City

It was a decent season for Everton too, because we didn't win anything. We didn't lose two cup finals or the league in hugely depressing circumstances though, so it wasn't one of their top campaigns.

Dont see anyone can say Arsenal had a good season, especially better than Spurs.

We may not like it and it belongs in the shitness of modern football thread but getting a spot in the champions league is more important than eithet domestic cups. Especially to footballers these days

Nah. Spurs did well in the league, but never really looked like winning it and won absolutely nothing.

Arsenal won the FA Cup, making them the most successful team in the cup ever. When players (and fans) look back they won't remember having a decent season in the league, they'll remember winning stuff.

Ask Arsenal fans next year on a tues or weds which they'd have preferred. I live just outside of London and don't know one Arsenal fan thats happy

If there's one set of fans who should understand the sham of being in the Champions League for its own sake, it should be Arsenal fans.

Pretty sure they'll be telling Spurs fans they haven't won the league in over 50 years and the cup in over 25.
