People who don’t support Man Utd on twitter like “I’m not a Man U fan but hope he gets better’” - “I’m a scouser but he’s ok” etc... then you’ve got Man Utd fans saying “thanks, mate, appreciate it” to the well wishers. All seems strange to me. Just wish him well ffs. Like declaring you support another team or being from liverpool you have to announce it first as you’re expected to want the guy dead or something? Fckin strange world, man.

I found all that a bit strange too.

It would be more realistic to say something like "as a rational thinking human being, I wish the best to an old man who is fairly poorly and whose only real fault was to do his job really well and, at times, to get a bit caught up in the tribalism that is somewhat inherent in football."

As somebody said above, he's not a MacKenzie type of character. A true hate figure, whereas with Ferguson it was more pissed off envy dressed up as hate.

I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Perfectly put.

I think it's a case of there potentially being a few dickheads that say they hope he dies or whatever, it'll make scousers look bad.

So it's kind of a preemptive thing, showing that most scousers wish him well.

Speaking of Pistonbroke where's he gone?

If his post earlier in the thread is any clue, he might be out getting some beers in?

He'll be dead one day and i'l have a pint and laugh at his demise the odious cunt.

Hope he pulls through. Anyone who doesn't agree that the guy was a footy genius is deluded. Get well soon Taggart

I totally disagree that he was a footballing genius. His transfer dealings were just gazumping everybody else in the transfer market and his CL record was pretty poor for a team with almost unlimited resources. That said,he is a father and grandfather and I don't wish them the grief that may come from his possible passing away.

He was in my opinion. Up there with Shanks , Paisley, Stein and Clough. That said I've just read Roy Keanes second book and there is a marked difference in how he talks about Clough and Ferguson. He was a nasty bastard and ruthless but Harvard don't piss about when it comes to paying people to speak to their students. He was our biggest enemy and that's why we 'hate' him. I doubt anyone deep down wants him dead. Unlike Thatcher and Kirsty Allsopp

Can imagine Fat Sam turning up to one of those like David Brent's motivational speaking conference.

Hahaha

Heard a specialist on the radio talking about the condition that Ferguson suffered. He stated that out of 10 people 4 died within a month, 4 were left with serious disability and only 2 made anything like a full recovery and led a normal life afterwards.

Not great odds

Best wishes to him.  I had a few interesting (drunken) chats with him many years ago when he used to meet his coaching staff in the bar of the hotel I used to stay in when working in Manchester.  His methods were unpalatable to opposition fans, but they worked.

Just listening to Neil Warnock on the radio this morning.  He's good at what he does, there's no getting away from that.  But it was good to hear him put the happiness of his family first.

While we're busy spitting bile at these people, it's easy to forget that they are human beings.
