Fabinho has scored almost 20 penalties in a row, hasn't he? One of the best in the world at them, I thought.

 

Why's he not on penalties? Or, at the very least, why isn't he 2nd or 3rd choice if Milner/Salah are off the pitch? Weird one.

A proper def mid. Made tackles, made himself an option in defensive situation everytime, kept things simple but at the same time threaded through balls and didn't "treat the ball like a Iive grenade".

 

Hopeless opponent though, let see how he gets on against better ones.

Sloppy start but he settled in nicely as the game went on. A nice, easy game for him to get going. If he carries that form against the top sides, he's going to be immense.

Saw an interesting stat on twitter.

 

Apparently 1/3 of his passes last night were to one of the front 3. Stark contrast to Milner, Gini, and Henderson - 1/9 of their passes are to one of the front 3.

86% passing accuracy too, highest of any player on the pitch. 

 

He made the 3rd highest number of passes. 

 

And ran 11km second only to Bobby who ran 11.6km.

A nice game for him to find his feet,so to speak. I think he will do ok long term but still not sure that Klopp will start him against better quality opponents just yet.

Thought he was excellent last night after getting up to speed with the game.

 

He can look very clumsy at times but I wonder if some of it is down to the fact he appears to have ridiculously large feet which are even more  accentuated by those hideous salmon-pink boots  , not that Ms Tavares is complaining I assume.

Maybe I'm imagining it? But I seem to recall he took one for us in a game and missed it.

He's quite tall and thin too, so he moves differently to most footballers. 

Crouch had a similar problem, despite having a surprising amount of skill. 

 

I can see those long go-go-gadget legs pissing the opposition off massively, just when they think they are about to break forward a tackle comes in from halfway across the pitch.
