Morecambe. Sorry to hear that mate, YNWA etc.

I hope the wedding went well despite the location. Fucking awful place.

All we really got to see of Morecambe was the inside of that hotel - which is superb - and the view across the bay (which, technically, isn't Morecambe) so it was great.

Graves from the Franklin Expedition, unsuccessful seekers of the Northwest Passage.

They've discovered one of Franklin's ships. Don't know which it is.

Should be interesting to see what they find on board. Morbid, but interesting.

Regarding the above, I recommend you read The Terror by Dan Simmons. Quite a long read, but I really enjoyed it.

Listened to this one while hiking in bear country. Good story.

Been poking around there for a long time. They won't find bodies as they abandoned the ships, resorted to canabalism and their graves are scattered across the Arctic as some went looking for help.

Below is a photo showing the first presidential motorcade (first open-top one, to boot). The car is a Columbia Electric Victoria Phaeton. Roosevelt is on the left. On the right is Colonel Jacob Greene, chairman of Hartford citizen’s committee. Note the chauffeurs at the back: one of them is steering with a tiller. The car is flanked by policemen on bicycles. Columbia bicycles. Notice anything missing? Chains. The bicycles are shaft-drive models. Pope was banking on shaft-drives to take-off big-time. They didn’t. Pope was also banking on electric cars to take off-big time. They didn’t either. Not every Pope is infallible.
