We bought him for 8.5 million. He has played for 5 years for us, over 300 appearances and 70 odd goals for us and countless assists.

We are probably going to sell him as he wants to move on, maybes he just wants to win trophies whilst playing for a team a lot of South American players treat as a dream.

We'll get anything between 120-140 million for him and he has still played a big part this season despite wanting a move.

I'd rather he stayed, but at least we are making a fortune on him and not getting stiffed again.

I'll be fucked if I'm gonna hate on him.

I'm looking forward to getting rid and to Klopo's new chapter, minus the drama (for another year or two).

As good a player as Phil is, there are many other excellent exciting attacking players out there, definitely some who'll add a greater balance to the side.

Of those mentioned, Lemar, Fekir, Boubadouz, SMS, yeh sign me up, I'd take them all. We're not getting a clone of Coutinho as a replacement but trust Kloppo to bring in players and to tweak or style making us better.

What’s even more galling than having this little cunt shit on us again, is people on here putting there teams up without him and having Henderson in there.

And the worst part. They’re all gonna be right.

We won’t be going for any of these great players that are getting named. We’ll go with Keita, Ox, Lallana, Gini, Grujic and Henderson as our midfield next season. We’ve seen how FSG wouldn’t pay for a top striker (or any other position) unless we get rid of them.

For all the praise they’re getting re VVD, he is replacing sakho’s wage and position remember and Solanke’s the cheap Origi replacement.

There’s nothing to complain about. The sad fact is Phil wants to play for Barca. Barca wants him and are prepared to pay top dollar to get him. Like Suarez he’s going to end up in Catalonia. It will undoubtedly affect us, but at least Phil’s not irreplaceable like Luis was. One could even argue that a price above £100M could improve us if invested wisely in new players.

Good luck Phil. Thanks for your time with us.

Hope to meet your Barca team in the CL next season.

They have not shown they are willling to pay top dollar though

They gave Dortmund 135ml for Dembele a player who has done relatiively fuck all in his career compared to Coutinho yet are offering us under £100ml with the rest in add ons that will never happen. Stump up or fuck off

Really don't get why we're even entertaining the idea of Coutinho leaving now. Basically the transfer happening in January has zero advantage to us over the transfer happening in summer.

Unless of course FSG need the cash to pay for Keita and van Dijk.

I think the surprise would be if Barca deemed that it was necessary to bring him in for January.  I'm not arsed if it's Jan or the summer, but it makes very little sense for them to bid for him now, unless they're simply trying to set-up a deal in principle for the summer, like we did with Keita.

Maybe, from Phil's point of view, he doesn't want to move house in the summer, during a World Cup?

The PL season ends on 13 May, and the FA Cup final is 19 May, and (god-willing) the CL final is 26 May.

Most international teams will have 2 or 3 friendlies before the World Cup kicks off, eg back in 2014 England had friendlies on 4 June before their first WC game on 14 June.

It's perhaps helpful to consider that Coutinho is a human, and he actually wants to have a holiday with his family without stressing about a transfer and them moving house and getting settled in a new city.

We’ve only got ourselves to blame here. This shits been going on for years now. Look back at Torres comments last year about why he wanted to leave. He could see we were going nowhere as a club who kept making more 3 year excuses which he saw right through as bullshit and thought he best be getting a move on if he wanted to have some big shiny pots at the end of his career. He was right when he said that we’re still making the same excuses now 7 years later.

Unless FSG start taking winning seriously, we’re gonna keep having this shit every summer with our next player having his breakout season wanting to jettison us at the first opportunity. It’s the club, not the players fault this shit keeps happening to us.

You could be right, but it’s where we are as a club at the moment.

Owners with bottomless pockets would help, of course, but these mythical, benevolent, human rights respecting godparents that loads on here demand whenever a situation like this crops up either don’t exist or don’t see the club as worth their billions.

Maybe if he was that arsed about it he wouldn't have signed a six year contract with no release clause.
