    Summer 2021 transfer thread.

No offense taken, mate. I'm personally not that keen on transfers. History shows that clubs who don't make a lot of transfers often do better. I like it the old way, one or two solid additions every season to gel in with the team we already have. My post was not a wish, just a speculation that made some sense to me.

Unlikely, but does make som sense: MBappe to Liverpool Salah to PSG We get a 22 year old for a 30 year old They, Quatar Ltd, gets the hero of the Arabic world, and doesn't have to worry about MBappe leaving on a free next year. Don't think it's going to happen, but it's not beyond possible

    Messi leaving on a free

OK, thx for correcting, isn' watching the crap. Still a wimp though.

Renato Sanchez from Lille? Anyone think this Portuguese lad is a good and possible signing?

    Messi leaving on a free

Everyone around him has nursed him as the gentlest of mothers from the day he was 16, inflating him with an insane amount of money. Not exactly the recipe for growing balls, is it? Look at the way he cried when he left Barca. Jezus, what a wimp.
  6. Chelsea: Gudjohnsen's chance in extra time. It goes in, we're out. Without away goal rule it's not that desperate as we'd have extra time. Barca: 4-0 up, 10 mins left. One goal to Barca and we're out. Heart bounces 170 strokes a min waiting desperately for the final whistle. Then, match is over, what a relief what a joy. Just think the AGR adds to the drama and the exitement.
  7. Correct again. Changed for group stages as well.
  8. Olympiakos: Going into the final mins the situation is clear. We score, we' through, we don't we're out. Heaven or hell. Do you think the players, the fans, the electricity in the stadium would've been the same if we could just stroll around waiting for extra time? Possible scenario: Liverpool- Olympiakos 2-1. Extra trime no goals. Pens. Even if we won that match it would never go down in history as one of those very special Anfield moments. At least that's my fear. That's it really. One goal changes everything, you win or you loose, you can't simply just draw. Euphoria mate, Euphoria! It's what it's all about, isn't it?
  9. A shame it is, indeed. We’ve had some very special nights at Anfield. Away goal rule have been a big part of these nervy nights: 1975-76: St.Etienne 2004-05: Olympiakos 2004-05: Chelsea 2015-16: Dortmund 2018-19: Barcelona The same euphoria without the away goal rule? I doubt it. Taking away the away goal rule will mean more matches decided on pens. Penalty shoot out? Loved by people who know nothing about the game. Not so much for us who do. Dreadful decision this, as expected from the UEFA inepts

    *Shakes head* Everton again.

I don’t get this at all. Not so much because of us, but the other side of the park. They’ll hate him before a ball is touched. Anfield on derby night: Kop doesn’t boo Rafa. On the contrary he’s given a solid applause. 90 mins later he goes off after losing 3-0 to us. That alone would be a sackable "offence". Totally stupid decision by the bloos. Personally I don’t mind though.

    VAR Thoughts?

I can live with this as long as the Lino's making the decision. If he's marginally wrong his decision still stands. If, however, VAR intereupts when it's called offside and VAR proves the lines are touching, we're pretty much at the same spot we are now.
  12. JustTosh

    VAR Thoughts?

Totally agree with that. If VAR could be used as an aid to the lino, i.e. he's off pace and 10 yards from where he should be to judge an offside or not, he could ask VAR to help him. If a lino decides it's offside but he i.e misses a player who makes the attacker 5 yards onside or some other blatant error, VAR can intervene. In other situations with the lino having a good virew just stick with his decision. To me this is the only way VAR could improve the game.
  13. JustTosh

    VAR Thoughts?

I'm just saying: Let the lino do his job and strick with his decision.
  14. JustTosh

    VAR Thoughts?

Here's another VAR problem. A defender makes a reckless challenge in the box, the attacking player instinctively let's hit feet go and avoids being crippled. In real time a stone wall pen. In slow motion there's no contact and a dive.
  15. JustTosh

    VAR Thoughts?

So, some decisions that were earlier ruled marginally offside will now be onside and onside decisions be made when a player in fact is marginally off. Eureka! What about letting the lino makle the decision and intervene only if it's so wrong everybody can see it withe the naked eye?
  16. JustTosh

    VAR Thoughts?

Thin lines or thick ones, there are still going to be borderline decitions to make. FA on it's way to set a new world record in incompetence. Same shit, new wrapping, that's what this is.

    Summer 2021 transfer thread.

Kelleher is too good not to play. If it's possible to send him out on loan with an option to bring him back immediately if Allison is injured, it would make sense.
  18. JustTosh

    Trent Alexander-Arnold

Totallly agree. If Hendo went on and played before it was safe and was injured again because of that, he should no longer be the captain of Liverpool FC.
  19. JustTosh

    Nathaniel Phillips

So very nice to read that. Nat is a much better player than he's given credit for. The tune is always "over performing etc". I don't subscribe to that point of view. He's an excellent reader of the game, his posiitoning is top class. All he really lacks is pace.

    Other football - 2020/21

The big collective Manc wank party's called off then?
  21. JustTosh

    Other football - 2020/21

Don't understand all the fuzz. Mancs ended up as the 18th best team in Europe rather than the 17th best. Not much to cry about is it?

    Liverpool 2 Palace 0 (May 23 2021)

He even had to score one of them hmself to make it look a bit less embarassing for the others.

    New CL format question

OK, I need clarification. In the shadow of this ESL thing UEFA hurried and made a new CL format. If I’ve got this right from 1924 the CL is apparently going to be played with 36 teams in one big league where you’ll meet not all the other 35 teams but 10 of them (who btw decides who’s playing who?). After that the 8 best are qualified for the ”last 16”-play off with the teams placed 9-24 going through a new qualifying round to decide the reaming 8? Is this correct? To qualify for this new CL tournament which has 4 more teams in it, 2 will come from some leagues not being the top 5-6, and two spots will be awarded to teams with the highest UEFA rank with no regard to how they ended their domestic league, i.e. if we ended 17th i n the league in 2023 we’d probably be qualified through UEFA coefficient? Is that right? If anyone knows for sure I’d be grateful for an answer.

    New CL format question

Two clubs with good UEFA coefficient qualifying even though they didn’t in their domestic league? Sorry, no can do for me that. ESL light. Only difference is UEFA gets the dosh.

    Burnley 0 Liverpool 3 (May 19 2021)

Nice report. Wouldn't be surprised if we fail on Sunday but are saved by either Villa or Spurs, or both. Us playing 1-1 against Palace, Leicester doing the same against Spurs, and Villa beating Chelsea? It would give us a bizarre 3rd place.
