Not a full round of fixtures as some clubs are on their winter break but there were a fair few games this weekend and most of the results went fairly well for us. There was one exception of course, the fucking cheating cunts pulled within two points of us at the top and I’m not gonna lie, I’ve got this sense of burning injustice welling up inside me already. If we lose out to them by a point or two again, after what happened at Spurs and with them having 115 charges hanging over them seemingly indefinitely (I know a date has been set, but their lawyers will find a way to get an extension) while other clubs who have done far less serious crimes are being punish…

The reason I ask is that I dont really dislike any of the players in our core group, I dont understand how its possible? Usually I have a strong dislike for a few of the players in our first team squad, but not at the moment. Sometimes its almost strong hate, because I think they are fuckin useless. But not now, now its almost boring because I like everyone, but I have convinced myself its a sign and that we will achieve great things this season. Most likely win a triple at least.

What is it going to take to win the Premier League this season? Darwin clicking in front of goal? New signings? Or the young players rising to the occasion? And how does the spectre of a Man City resurgence alter our expectations? Chris Smith, Dave Usher and Paul Natton used the winter break to take some listener questions on our player of the year so far, the Reds best XI and what we would consider a successful season from this point. We pick the Liverpool players we'd stake our lives on in a penalty shoot out and how the matchday experience has changed in our long years attending Anfield. View full article

Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. This fixture marks our return to action following the winter break. While long gaps between games normally see us struggle for rhythm, the 10 day break gives players a chance to spend more time recovering from injuries, dress up like Phoenix Nights doormen for fashion shoots (looking at you, Trent!), and for the coaches it's an opportunity to refresh their coaching ideas and plan for the business end of the season. One in which we hope to be competing on multiple fronts like we did a couple of years ago. Last season's co…

Anthony Patterson is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar if Caoimhin Kelleher decides to leave Liverpool to become a first choice keeper elsewhere. The Sunderland goalkeeper has kept eight clean sheets in 27 appearances this season with the Black Cats currently on the fringes of the playoff positions in seventh. The future of Kelleher has been a source for discussion for a couple of seasons. The Irishman is highly unlikely to unseat Allison as Liverpool’s number one with the Brazilian currently regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world That said, Kelleher is arguably the best reserve goalkeeper around at this point of time, a…

Monday Jan 8: Henderson wants to quit Saudi because the weather is too hot, the training facilities are shit and the crowds are pathetic. Apparently there’s loads of others who want out now too one of the reasons being given is the lack of freedom the wives have. I mean, where to even fucking start with this. How thick are these cunts? I assumed they knew all of this beforehand but just wanted the money. There are also rumours that players want to leave because of the human rights issues and how they impact their wives. You couldn’t make this shit up, it’s fucking pathetic. It seems almost incomprehensible that they didn’t know it was hot and that …

This season TLW is once again looking to keep an eye on the younger members of the squad who are continuing their football education on loan. Last season we brought you the insight from Blackburn Rovers fans as Tyler Morton spent the campaign at Ewood Park. While it started brightly for the defensive midfielder, just like the team in general there was a notable drop-off come the end of the 2022/3 season. But all in all, playing a full campaign in one of the most physically intense leagues in Football would have done the 21 year-old the world of good. Now Morton is currently at Hull City, a club who are having a fine season under manager Liam Rosenior, exceedin…

Simon Jordan believes that Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in the Premier League in all facets of the game. The former Crystal Palace chairman and current Talksport presenter admits that bare facts show that Pep Guardiola has been the standout manager in terms of overall success in the modern era, if the two managers were to swap places, then Klopp would have won just as much as him. They’ve [Liverpool] got a manager that to me, I think, is the best manager, if not close to it in world football. “I know that the statistics will tell you that it’s Pep. But if (Klopp) had the same resources as Pep I think he might have achieved the same…

Once again we’ve had to come back from being behind. Once again we’ve been a bit shit in the first half and needed Klopp to fix it at the break. Once again, the subs made the difference. Once again, Darwin was fucking boss but somehow didn’t score again. Rinse and repeat. It’s been happening for most of the season. We’ve had some good first halves, but we’re essentially a second half team right now. That’s ok, I’d rather start slow and finish strong than the other way around, but it would be nice to have the occasional game put to bed by half time wouldn’t it? We actually started this game really well but after conceding against the run of play we …

The Reds rebounded from a poor first half, as goals from Jones and impressive substitute Gakpo put the 9-times League Cup winners on course for another Wembley Final. Chris Smith is joined by Stu Montagu and TLW Editor Dave Usher to recap the action, heap praise on Connor Bradley and assess our prospects for the rest of January amid a growing absentee list. Pep Lijnders believes that FSG have played a major role in the rejuvenation of Liverpool this season by sanctioning a summer transfer spend window that transformed the midfield. With a number of senior midfield players such as captain Jordan Henderson, vice captain James Milner, Fabinho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all departing at the end of last season, the decision was made to bring players of a younger age and potential to grow into true stars. Alexis MacAllister and Dominic Szoboszlai were initial signings which were then followed by Waturu Endo and Ryan Gravenberch. While each newcomer has adjusted to life at Liverpool…

It’s always enjoyable beating Arsenal, but doing it when they think they should have won is especially satisfying. I think we’ve done this before, at least to some extent. My memory is notoriously sketchy these days but that cup game a couple of years ago when Jota knocked them out, didn’t they come flying out the traps in that one too? Maybe not to this extent, but I seem to remember us starting that game quite slowly and then gradually playing our way into it and breaking their hearts. This one was especially hilarious though, as our first half performance was a train wreck and we gift wrapped them five or six great chances. They didn’t take any of them and…

No Van Dijk, no Salah, no problem. The Reds advanced to the next round after a smash and grab win against a profligate Arsenal side who should have been out of sight by half time, but if you let Klopp's mentality monsters stay in the game then this is what happens. TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Paul Natton and Julian Richards to revel in one of the more satisfying wins of the season so far, and to look ahead to the midweek semi final against Fulham. Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. A chance to both continue recent momentum and have one foot at Wembley beckons. Since we have relatively few fixtures this month, with a large break coming up, the issue is less to do with availability and more about rhythm. Even if the manager rings the changes, you want to make sure the ones playing are in great shape, able to carry out tactical plans, be brave in trying to make things happen, and be able to think clearly if put under a bit of pressure. The last time the sides met in this fixture at Anfield was in Dece…

Jurgen Klopp has once again implored the governing body of the game to be extremely sensitive to the issue of player burnout. The footballing calendar has never been more congested than this current era with. tournaments which were scheduled to be played in the off-season now being played during peak periods of the campaign such as the upcoming AFCON. Players are also seeing their summer breaks greatly reduced due to the implementation of the UEFA Nations League fixtures played during that period. In these days of intense cost of living pressures for the everyday individual, sympathy is never going to be high on the scale especially gi…

Middlesbrough are on and they just piss me off. I remember when they were in the Prem and they always had loads of empty seats despite having some top class foreign players back during the early influx, the colour of their kit gets on my tits too, is it fucking orange or what? Plus their owner looked like Steve Coogan which always pissed me off too. Sheffield Wednesday. Who puts a name of the week in their fucking club? "E by gum can't wert to gor and watch t'Wednseday on Saturday with lads darn tootin''". Fuck, right, off.

Monday Jan 1: L 4 Newcastle 2. Fucking hell that was good. I doubt we’ve played better this season, certainly not for 90 minutes anyway. We’ve had brilliant spells in games but this was great more or less the whole way through. Aside from a spell before half time when Anthony Taylor completely lost control of the game, we were utterly dominant. Newcastle actually deserve credit for causing us some problems. As much as they’ve been struggling of late, nobody could have lived with us tonight and they’ve done well to score two and give us some awkward defensive moments. Their keeper is the main reason they didn’t concede ten though. We fucking battered them. …

Brazil legend has died, aged 92. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67900776 Brazilian football legend Mario Zagallo, who won four World Cups as a player and coach, has died aged 92. Zagallo was a winger in the Brazil team who won back-to-back World Cups in 1958 and 1962, starting in both finals. He managed the side widely regarded as the greatest international team of all time, including Pele, Jairzinho and Carlos Alberto, to glory in 1970. Zagallo's final World Cup triumph came as Carlos Alberto Parreira's assistant coach in 1994. He returned as Brazil manager after that tournament and led them to…

After their come from behind win against Villa in the previous game, United were feeling good about themselves. Had they turned a corner? Yes, and then they walked straight into a train. Losers. They went to Forest and were fucking dogshit again. Forest had too much desire and pace for them to handle. Typified by Gibbs-White and United old boy Elanga who ran them ragged. Elanga has pissed the United fans off because he 'over celebrated' by grabbing the Forest badge on his shirt and dancing in the dressing room afterwards. I don't blame him, they spent £180m on Antony and Sancho because they didn't think he was good enough. And he's miles better tha…

Work-rate. Incisiveness. Nous. I don't ask for much. This is how it's gonna be. Build from the ground up. I suspect both sides will go quite strong for this one. We have the League Cup semis to follow but otherwise, the Premier League is on a winter break so players will essentially be rested then. They have been strict with these breaks before, not allowing teams to swan off all over the globe to play in lucrative friendlies. Teams can go to places like Dubai for warm weather training and bonding exercises but they aren't allowed to play matches. Of course there's an issue with the domestic cup scheduling in January, as you have the af…

Putting aside the frustrations of us need a million chances to score one goal, there was so much to feel good about from this performance. It’s probably the best we’ve played all season and the only thing lacking was the bucketload of goals we should have had. The fact that this game was still somewhat in the balance until Mo’s late penalty is infuriating, particularly in light of other recent games in which we’ve had thirty odd shots and still struggled to convert them. Statistically there are probably quite a few similarities with the United game. Certainly we had a similar number of shots against the mancs, albeit nowhere near as many on target and the XG w…
