We’ve been extremely sloppy on the ball the last 10 mins though, only Gakpo making the ball stick among the front three.

 

Also, Bayern are about as bad a matchup as we can get. Comfortable in possession, and lightning players on the flanks.

We spent tons of energy on our press in the opening 15 minutes. We should be able to recoup for another burst early 2nd half. Don’t think there’s much in it, but they keep possession a bit better than us, and conserve their energy better that way.

I know it’s a friendly but it’s absolutely infuriating to see the same shit game in game out.  He’s not a fucking right back.  He clearly doesn’t want to play there.

 

You could argue the second goal is tactical because he’s actually high up the pitch but what the fuck is he actually doing there in the first place.  He’s absolutely braindead with no defensive awareness at all.  There’s barely any pressure on the ball and Gnabry is running wild and Trent is not high cutting any pass of any sort.  He’s just standing there doing fuck all.  It’s just fucking lazy.  We won’t win the league again playing Trent at right back whatever way Klopp wants to dress it up.

I think our current midfielders actually can, it’s just the forwards that have been too sloppy on the ball. All of Trent, Curtis, Mac Allister are good enough and press resistant enough for us to keep control.

So we're potentially looking at a midfield of Jones, Elliott and Szoboszlai for the start of the season, with no back up other than a couple of kids. Great job all round

You know who I wish we had sometimes? A player like Wan-Bissaka. Not the actual Wan-Bissaka obviously - a player like Wan-Bissaka.

If we want to play the possession game we will get counter-attacks against us. Problem is when we overcommit when our forwards lose the ball for fun.

 

Also, our one-on-one defending is as big a problem as the space in behind. Matip and Robbo looking not great for the 2nd…
