The Prodigy

I have got a few days off work and decided to get a few beers and get a few of my old Vinyls on the go and have now got stuck in a Prodigy loop.

I honestly think they are so unappreciated for what they did and the style of music they encompassed. They appealed to so many different people who love so completely different genres and were one of my favourite live acts ever.

I had the pleasure to work with them quite a few times and they were absolutely great and genuinely nice fellas with no airs and graces about them.

Great band, seen them a few times.

I first heard of them in early 90s as a 15 year old kid, I was standing at Runcorn East train station waiting for a train to Warrington and an older lad was stood nearby with a Walkman on playing loud enough that I could hear something that sounded so good I went and asked what it was. It was Everybody in the place.

I was such a nerd I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget it.

Best live act I've ever seen. All 3 times. It's actually 4 but I barely remember Creamfields 06, I was badly fucked up.

They were absolutely immense live. I was working 2006 creamfields and can’t remember much either. I was at the side of stage watching it.

Still prefer Speke though!

Saw them at a few raves in the early 90s, including this one. This was their best line up with Leeroy and Keith just on dancing duties in them days. Also saw them at Glastonbury in 1995 on the other stage whilst Oasis were on. One of the best live experiences ever. Although I had taken a lot of drugs.

First band I ever saw live.

I still have imprinted on my mind the look of absolute disgust and confusion on Keith Flints face as he was driven in the back door to be greeted at the gates by an eleven year old me with my mother as chaperone.

He, I assume, knew the game was up at that point.

I don't remember much about the details of Keith Flint's passing but where do you have to be mentally to want to leave the world through self-hanging? It's just the ultimate punishment so for someone to feel they deserve that for themselves is just so sad.

Never seen them live but their albums were a staple of my youth.

Have to admit I’m not a massive fan of their newer stuff. Experience and Music for the Jilted Generation were peak Prodigy. Fat of the Land was a mixed bag for me, some epic tracks and some skippable.
