Love the twisted symmetry of the situation with Timo Werner, the sure thing player 'we missed out on' now being potentially hawked back to Germany, while the player we did sign, Jota, has now been rewarded with a new contract because of his efforts over the past 2 seasons. He stepped up when Mo and Sadio were at AFCON last season, and 21 goals in all competitions is a great return for a player who started the season as 4th choice striker.

Football recruitment is not for everyone, is it?

It's almost as though Klopp knows better than us.

Put your faith in Klopp, your ass belongs to me.

Klopp wanted to sign Werner, though. That's actually the best part; often with Klopp, it doesn't even matter who we sign, he will make sure it works out, as long as they have qualities he can work with.

Like a new signing; great leaning game.

I was gutted when we didn't get Werner. I'm not now.

I'm leaving toward this way of thinking too.

Gotze, Brand, Fekir. He would have made them all work here.

He has had no pre season either - will be a while yet before he is at it.

Even if he was 'fit' tomorrow - it would still be a while before he was properly at it.

How long before he's more effective than Firmino?

I'm going with about three weeks ago.

Bobby should honestly have fucked off to Spain two years ago as he would still have been able to rack up 10-20 G/A as a supporting striker somewhere. He has been a complete non-entity of an option for us since 2020, we've just been pissing his wages down the drain, just like we did with Studge for his last two years with us.

It's really unfathomable that he's our starting striker in 2022. He will barely get a look in once Jota is back but will probably still feature before then because we spent 65m on a player we are too scared to rely on.
