Great actor ? Defo. Best ever ? No chance. Best movie start ever ? Very possibly.

Fucking fantastic in OFOTCN, The Departed, The Shining (amongst many others). Can't share Stig's enthusiasm for A Few Good Men though, I think that's a fucking gash film and I think the Code Red court room scene is embarrassing. Tom Cruise, just fuck off you balsa bastard.

...Cuckoo's Nest is just a sublime film and that ball game scene has the same impact as the scene in Shawshank Redemption where Andy plays Mozart over the tannoy. It's a shame that Nicholson has largely portrayed parodies of his own persona for the last 20-odd years because when he's on his game, there are very few that can get near.

Not a big film buff but I was stuck for five days due to a blizzard and watched The Shining (probably not a good idea it freaked the shite out of me) and As Good As It Gets.

He was brilliant in As Good.. but I hate Helen Hunt. I mean she fucked off with a bloody dentist whilst all Chuck had was a fucking volleyball to keep him company.

Few Good Men- Nicholson saves the movie. Not even worth watching except for the 'Can't Handle the Truth' and 'I eat breakfast' scenes.

I do get tired of seeing him on Laker broadcasts. Same with Spike Lee. Yeah, we fucking know they are there.

Gene Hackman was great in Hoosiers. Best basketball movie ever. Well, maybe Coach Carter was better. I've only seen two b-ball movies and the ESPN 30 for 30 Once Brothers.

Gene Hackman was great in almost everything.
