Steroid (and other drugs) use is par for the course for many, many WWE wrestlers. How do you think so many of them wound up dead at an early age, including Davey Boy Smith? Fucking stupid that McMahon still hasn't clamped down on this.

So I take it you haven't watched ANY WWE since 2007 and Benoit went loopy?

Jeff Hardy who was at one point the biggest merch seller and most over babyface has been suspended twice, Orton has been suspended twice, Sin Cara and Bourne have also been suspended this year.

They have a very strict drug policy that is run by an outside source.

Yes, there were shitloads of drugs in the 80's and 90's and I've heard some famous stories, such as Macho Man doing a load of lines before an autograph session, sneezing on a child before proclaiming "damn, there goes $500".

I think in 1992 every wrestler tested positive for substances so they implemented a drug policy after Mcmahon was indited which was scrapped in 1997 as they could not afford it, and then re-started in 2005.

The trade is sadly on its arse. What do you expect with a slogan like "Dont do this" how its supposedly dangerous. Sad times ahead.

if your referring to those adverts they even had them during the attitude era it's probably due to the fact from what I have seen is there isn't as many talented wrestlers like there where back in the old days

Indeed, not really watched WWE since the Attitude Era as it's been mostly crap, except the occasional Wrestlemania. But nice to know McMahon is finally doing something about drug abuse. His employees will thank him for it in the long run!

I remember the days when anyone could be a wrestler with the purchase of a belt and download a song. No PPE needed. Just a little acting and strength. Those days are long gone. The trade is sadly on its arse. What do you expect with a slogan like "Dont do this" how its supposedly dangerous. Sad times ahead.

You're correct, anyone could be a "wrestler" but only ones with talent will ever get into a promotion, be it a global company like WWE via their developmental system, a national promotion like TNA or New Japan Pro Wrestling or indie companies like Ring of Honor for example. The only wrestler who has made it like the way you've suggested is CM Punk, ironically the WWE champion.

He started off wrestling in backyard promotions he started despite not knowing how to wrestle. When he got trained he became one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Go watch Punk vs Joe 2 from ROH 2004, an hour long rematch between two of the best workers in wrestling today.

The reason they did that campaign to be safe was because in America, some kid got piledrivered in a school playground on concrete and broke his neck. There were other incidents like this happening throughout the country and WWE were pressured by the US government to put out signs like this.

For now the trade is on its arse but when TNA get bigger or when the current top stars in the WWE retire (Cena is broken and Punk has said he will be retiring soon) then they will be forced to build new stars. Triple H is pushing some of the best young talent in Cesaro, Sandow and Sin Cara, with Cara admittedly being a botch-fest but under the tutelage of Rey he will improve.

I am waiting on Triple H to take over from Vince because most of the stuff that has worked over the last 12 months has been his work.

Agreed mate. It's horrible seeing some of the ex-guys who have thrown it all away. Have you seen Jake Roberts recently?

CM Punk has been doing sterling work for well over a year. First as a face and now as a heel; helluva worker.

His storylines have been shit since he turned heel. Beat up commentators, demand respect etc. Boring! He deserves better, they need to do something original with him (or at least not so common).
