From the reading the interview i get the impression that Big Roy won't be walked over or pressured, guy is straight forward, honest and take no bull shit. He put some of the press in their place and deservedly so. Many people on here were saying he's too nice etc the guy's been in a managerial position for decades now and you don't keep that up by being Mr.Nice Guy all the time. IMO Roy hasn't put a foot wrong so far, trust in Big Roy :)

Some people seem to be making loads of excuses for Roy who would've had a go at Rafa for making the same comments.

I don't like the hypocrisy.

You mean me dont you Paul? Well just say it old bean no need to dance round the may pole is there.

Its Roy's 1st game, i'm backing the fella until it goes pear shaped if indeed it even does.

Rafa was here for 6 years.

He's gone, get over it or go and support Inter Milan.

You've got a point, but Roy has just taken over. He'll be getting the benefit of the doubt which is perfectly fair in my opinion.

Just treat them the same.

He's in a shit country, he can say what he likes. You'd never have said that about Rafa when they would've been in the same country and no as little about the opposition.

One made those sort of comments, week after week when we where finishing seventh.

One is making those comments before his first competitive game, without none of his first choice 11 starting against a potential tricky side.

Rafa and Roy have a completely different of putting themselves across in interviews, Rafa was cryptic whereas Roy seems very straight forward. At the end of the day Roy will be judged on what he does with the team on the pitch.

I'll never forgive him for the way he tried to electrocute Luke Skywalker. Dark Side this, Rebel Alliance that. Twat.

I actually liked the way Rafa handled the press and detested the way they went after him when they realised he wasn't going to be 'one of theirs' - like Fat Arse Allardyce, 'Arry, Sir Touching Cloth, Buffalo Head Bruce and other LMA luminaries. And if Roy wants to treat the pencil lickers in the same way then he has my support.

Although I do take your point about the anti-Rafa crew's double standards.

I don't think he said anything wrong in that press conference and don't care if he had a go at the journalists. Fuck the journalists.

Some of the comments would've been pulled up staright away if it was still Rafa in charge and to me that hypocrisy.

They'd both be in a shit country, with loads of players missing and would've had a tough time trying to get players in and out.

No I won't. Because people are comparing every single thing Hodgson does to what Benitez did. Hodgson has been here 5 minutes, he needs time to be both judged on his own merits, not what the former manager did.

If you want to twist his words, create something that isn't there, then it's for one reason only, and that is Rafa.

People are comparing the reaction from fans to what hodgson does compared to the reaction from fans when benitez spoke, huge difference.

Yeah and there is a huge difference to as the circumstances both managers where in.

One had been there 6 years, and in the middle of one of the worst periods of football we've seen for 15 years.

The other has been here 5 minutes, approaching his first game with next to no first team players.

It's actually a snide article in the telegraph that (deliberately?)
Here are Roy's other quotes:

'We're changing the subject. I don't think it's right in a room full of Macedonian journalists to be talking about things like homegrown rules and English players. I think we should be talking about the game, because that is what interests people. The subjects you are bringing up now are subjects for a future press conference'.

Rather changes the context, doesn't it?

I'm afraid I don't see how that changes the context of his comments about too many discussions or the context of the question about Luke Young.
