That's a lot of money for a full-back when they don't have a midfielder worthy of the name, and their two best centre halves are either leaving or set for retirement.

 

I'd have loved us to sign Shaw but there's no way we could allocate that sort of money to the full-back position when we are desperate for strengthening in so many areas. Hopefully we're able to scout a quality full-back for a much more reasonable fee, probably from overseas.

Shaw at £25m is better value than Lallana at roughly the same money.   Both full back positions should be our most pressing concern.

 

Both players are over priced but we're managing to make the Shaw deal look decent.

Hope we keep our powder dry for Ricardo Rodriguez at Wolfsburg, and then Lallana is fine, and I'd like to see Rakitic, Will Hughes, and then some random curveball where we bid massive money for someone like Hummels, or Pogba, or Vidal.

Think he'll want a new player. LVG will be asking those players to do things they're not used to. He's monster.

No he wouldn't because his game is massively reliant on pace and at some point he'll get a knock.

 

Give me a Zabaleta-type over a Shaw-type any day of the week. Solid in all areas of his game, and injury-proof for the long-term.

His agent did say recently he would be up for a return to England, I don't think we would be in for him though as much as Id love him back.

I'm yet to see one. Even Dani Alves in his prime, or Roberto Carlos, or Cafu, were still just full backs in excellent teams. This is where FFP has to come in and save everyone, because if a very good full back costs £25m to £30m then what hope is there for any team outside of the super-rich?
