Well, we invented it, and we lead the world in production. If you're ever flying over Saskatchewan in the summer, all you can see are bright yellow fields of it....rapeseed that is.

 

The name canola comes from 'can' for Canada , and 'ola' oil low acid.

 

I'm assuming someone powerful objected to the 'rape' thingie.
