Reds and Boro settle Ziege dispute Liverpool and Middlesbrough have reached an agreement to settle the dispute over Christian Ziege's move to Anfield in August 2000. The issue was set to go to the High Court, with the Reds accused of making an illegal approach for the German wing-back, but that prospect has now been avoided. A statement from the clubs and the Premier League read: "Middlesbrough and Liverpool football clubs announce a satisfactory resolution of the High Court action launched by Middlesbrough against Liverpool and Mr Ziege over the player's transfer from Middlesbrough to Liverpool in Aug 2000. "The decision follows discussions between the tw…

Is this a bad omen for our league chances? A Zimbabwean prophet has launched a $US1.5 million legal claim against a South African sports broadcaster after it claimed he had predicted that Liverpool would win this season's English Premier League, it was reported on Wednesday. Despite the fact that Liverpool are currently second in the league with just 10 games to play, Spirit Embassy Church leader, Uebert Angel, denies ever making the claim. He says his reputation will be damaged if they do not win the title. "The plaintiff claims the sum of $US1,500,000 considering his character and stature as a prophet with great following... who is respected the world over …

The best player of a generation - a man who was simply sublime irrespective of what he did tonight. Zidane I salue you and thank you for showing us so many times why we love football so much. A man for the big occassions. (except tonight obviously) although the arrogance of that penalty was out of this world. (Think this great man deserves a thread of his own)

This isn't a discussion thread, just vote for which option you think more justifies what kind of player he is.

Who is better? Ibra? Torres? I'd go for....eemmmmmm... Ibra, because he has more confidence when shooting, he tries more tricks but When it comes to speed its an even contest and then I think Torres is a better finisher inside the box, maybe not outside the box and Torres is a joy to watch like Ibra but I enjoy watching Torres more...He doesn't ever seem to give up on a loose ball or when he gives it away he tracks back as well as possible and gets it...Ibra doesn't:telloff: :wallbutt:

How good was it? At the time on twitter you had ex-pros, footy commentators, and every Joe-public championing it as the greatest goal ever. Maybe that was understandable in the shock of the moment. But the day after, what are people’s feelings? At the time I cheered and marvelled like everyone else, but I also said to the fella with me “jammy bastard, when the balls rolling for you, it’s certainly rolling for you”. And I kind of still think that. The goal was brilliant; no question. But was it up there with the best? For my money, nowhere near. Yes, the technique was very good. But you see players doing the exact same overhead kick to clear balls out of the b…

Sky Sports | Football | News | Zola offers Drogba support I love this bit: I know Drogba is a very composed and honest player," said Zola. "He is always fair" The fuck? If I was a West Ham fan I'd want the manager to be concentrating on getting results for the team instead of commenting on that whopper.

May all your children have small penises. (Including the girls.) I had a fiver on Fulham to win 1-0 and Murphy to be the scorer at 175 (yes, that's ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE) to one. :wallbutt: I am going to hunt that Hungarian down and give him a Chinese burn.

Zoltan Gera has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool to be reunited with his former Fulham Boss Roy Hodgson. However, the Hungarian has played down these rumours and insists that he's happy with Fulham, as he explained to Skysports.com: 'I do not know anything about this. I was happy at Fulham with Roy, but he has moved on to Liverpool and I am still at Fulham. 'Mark Hughes is a very good manager, we have had some great training sessions. 'He wants a different Fulham, and I think the team will be capable of these new things.' This story has been reproduced from today's media. It does not necessarily represent the position of Liverpool Footb…

Soooo, do people still believe that zonal marking was the reason why we let in a few goals from set pieces the last couple of seasons? Or could it be that we are in fact, a bit shit in the air (our CBs especially)? Cringeworthy looking at Torres (he's actually one of the players that would benefit from a zonal system as he's much better at attacking the ball rather than marking a player), Konchesky and especially Carragher today. Add to that, Skrtel could easily have had another penalty (I say another because of the incidents against WBA) against him today. A small tip to the players in wide positions as well: When your defenders are unable to jump more than 10 cm up …

Without getting into the Sky propaganda, we are having big problems with defending set pieces at the moment. We used to be very good at defending corners and freekicks but of late we are conceding goals regularly from these types of situations. It's hard to blame zonal marking because we have one of the best defences in league and this has been the case for a while but something isn't quite right at the minute and it needs sorting.
